Hotaru doesn't remember much before her first clan. Bits and pieces of the Scarred Wasteland flash in her mind from time to time, but no voices and no faces accompany these flashes. She was only a few days old when she was found and brought into her first home. It was a small, nomadic clan, filled with only female dragons. Rather than finding mates and having children of their own, they recruited into their ranks. The dragons in the clan were performers: actresses, dancers, singers, musicians. She was raised by the other dragons, and taught how do dance and preform at a young age. She grew up on the stage and had a natural gift for it. As she grew into her adolescence, she became well known for her emotional and powerful performances, and dragons would flock to her shows. She adored her life in the clan, and living in the lap of luxury. Truly, nothing could beat this life.

Everything changed when Hotaru met Stav. She was on a stroll, not an unusual thing for her to do, when she heard a commotion in the distance. She rushed toward it to find a Fae she had never seen before being attacked by another dragon. Hotaru instinctively dove in and protected him, having been trained in battle for self defense. She fought off the attacker successfully, and found that the dragon she had protected was a mute, terrified Fae. Hotaru's heart ached at the sight of him and she was instantly drawn to Stav. After finding his companions and introducing herself to them, she felt compelled to join them on their journey. So, Hotaru said goodbye to her family, and left her luxurious life behind to follow along with her new friends. Along the way, she helped Stav practice his magic and assisted Amaia in teaching him ways of communication.

Hotaru was thrilled when they finally reached the Sunbeam Ruins. Not just because her wings and feet were becoming quite worn out from their travels, but she was so happy to find a place to settle and build their new home. And finding her place in their new clan was not hard to do. She wanted to do what she loved again, and that was performing. So, with Nilam and Stav's help, she built her own, small theatre within their clan. She began putting on shows almost immediately. She adored the smiles she brought to other dragon's faces and being able to express herself once again.

Hotaru is an extremely hard headed dragon. She is feisty, direct, and very used to getting her way. When she has her mind set on something, she is determined to see it through. And she will do whatever it takes to do so. Her snarky and overbearing nature can get under the scales of other dragons. However, deep down, Hotaru is a kind dragon and she wants what is best for her clan, and for every dragon in her clan. She is a dragon that is used to getting the best of the best, and she strives to have a life like that again. She is a devoted actress and dancer, pouring all of her energy and soul into every performance. She has a deep passion for it, and with everything else she puts her time and energy into.

Although some dragons can find her rather difficult to deal with, she does have a group of close friends within the clan. Amaia became a mentor like figure in her life, and she looks up to the older dragon. She's one of the few that can calm Hotaru down when she gets worked up. She looks up to Marhena quite a bit, and she's very close to Everett, Nilam, and Rasul. The three dragons are regulars at her shows, and she can always find at least one of them, if not all, in the crowd. She enjoys chatting with the three of them about just about anything, and finds Rasul a particularly enjoyable conversationalist. Joan is one of her best friends, and the other dragon is always at her performances. She also helps Hotaru with crafting sets, accessories, and costumes for different performances. She cares about all of her close friends and is fiercely loyal to them.

Hotaru's partner is Stav. She had a massive crush on the other Fae from the moment she met him, and it only blossomed more as they began traveling together and Hotaru started helping him with his magic. However, Stav was very oblivious to Hotaru's advances. Even the ones that seemed painfully obvious to her. So, finally, she got fed up. She stormed into Stav's shop one day and practically ordered him to go on a date with her. Needless to say, the poor mute dragon was confused, and a bit scared. But, nevertheless, he agreed, and the two were inseparable ever since. They already had a deep bond, and it only flourished as time went on. Although Hotaru is the more emotional and eccentric of the two, she's able to understand Stav's feelings and help him express them. Hotaru never really saw herself as a mother, but with Stav at her side, anything seemed possible. And soon, the two had a nest of four eggs. Hotaru positively adores all of her children and, while she can be a bit overbearing and protective, she just wants what is best for them and wants them to have anything and everything they could possibly want in life.
