Ceremar is a mage. She and her siblings were taken in by Fressune when her parents were exalted to the ranks of the Tidelord. He set to training her in the ways of magic, so as to provide her with something constructive to do while learning to live without her parents. Over time, her siblings would depart to find their own ways in life, but Ceremar stayed. It was natural, then, that Fressune would name her as his successor as the Monarch of the Snowfall Scavengers. She still insists that everyone simply call her by her name, though some choose to call her by more noble and decorous titles.
For a time, she was mated to another Ridgeback, with whom she had four children. This Ridgeback wanted them to go out and found their own clan, but Ceremar refused to leave the family she'd found in the Snowfall Scavengers. The two eventually parted ways on decent terms, though Ceremar doesn't expect to see him again.
