Loud, boisterous, and with a fondness for adventures, Garnet was transferred at a young age from Mephis' Clan . As she was a little older, a little bigger, a little nosier, and a lot louder than the other hatchlings being raised in the clan at the time (Luna, Marco, and Polo), she was often kicked out of the nursery to go wandering in Neville's woods; staying out all day and having to be dragged back to the castle at dusk for supper. Since the three of them have approached adulthood and were old enough to leave the island unaccompanied, Garnet, Marco, and Polo have formed the lead combat group of the clan. Every day, they would travel across the continents in search of new opponents to defeat, often coming back bruised and battered, yet wholly satisfied with themselves. After the Beastclans declared war, their excursions became riskier, and the looming threat of the Corrupted Uprising has spurred the Matriarch to keep her most loyal warriors closer to home. For a while, Garnet retired from combat, leaving Marco and Polo to take up the roles of exalt trainers. She takes after her mother, blind Concord the Bloodletter, and is a ferocious sight to behold in battle. Her exceedingly broad wings help compensate for the weight of her gem bond, and she is a strong, if inelegant, flier. If anything, her gemstones are a bonus in combat, adding an extra measure of protection. On the ground, none can match the speed of her razor-sharp fighting style. Behind her extroverted and cheerfully combative nature lies the cunning mind of an Arcane dragon. Despite this, Garnet cares little for book learning and believes there is no better teacher than experience. On February 16, 2016 Garnet was treated with a Tincture of Dissolution, becoming even more lightning fast then her brothers. With eliminate added to her skill set, Garnet is now in charge of all exalt training - or will be, as soon as there is enough room on the island to board exalts. It remains to be seen if she will shed her Gembond and take up Thylacine, to make her changes more physically apparent - for the longest time, her gem bond made her a slower but sturdier brawler (although always faster than the mirror twins). Although she has lost much in the way of bulk, only an idiot would accuse her of being fragile. Garnet is in a loving relationship with Marcus, views Marco and Polo as brothers, considers Luna the younger sister she doesn't quite get, and dotes upon Callisto. Once upon a time she harbored an enormous crush for the Tundra, but as Mercury would never allow his mate to be anything but monogamous, Garnet let her go. Today, the two dragons are closer friends than ever, and although she'd never make the first more, Garnet will always be up for something more. She is active and involved in all of her children's lives, and loves every one of them robustly. She attends every one of her son Nero's concerts, and wears a set of Light Runes that her two Acolight sons, Ambrosius and Plutarch, gave her. Her daughter Opal was for a while the odd one out, with her predisposition for the healing arts. While it took a while to learn to appreciate her daughter, Garnet has become even more supportive since Opal has announced her desire to join the Sunguard Warriors combat team with Lyra and An. Unexpectedly united with Callisto in mourning a child lost to the Plaguebringer's brood. Garnet firmly believes that her son Raith became part of the world's strongest fighting and survival force, and was not sacrificed to the Plague Flight's sick experiments. Garnet's chimera familiar was found while digging in Earth, May 17, 2014. When Garnet is not busy fighting in the Coliseum, the two of them often help in digging lair expansions. The clan's resident Peacock Scorpion has taken a liking to her, and can often be found scuttling behind her on cave explorations. Depending on who you ask, this is either a cute or downright horrifying development, but Garnet doesn't mind. Eventually, the arthropod was joined by several others, and the Ridgeback often finds herself accompanied by a skittering horde on her routine tunnel inspections. She intuits quite a bit more about the Corruption's activities than they'd really like, just from their movements and expansions below the ground. Luckily for them, she's really not into clan politics. |

Marcus caught Garnet's eye as soon as he came into the clan, if for no other reason than he was a fellow Ridgeback. But his mysterious ways beguiled her Arcane mind as much as his strong and lithe body beckoned to her other senses. Annoyed with the attraction she felt towards the other Ridgeback, Garnet devised a clever spell to steal Marcus' Thresher Flatfins right off his
To her embarrassment and regret, Marcus Aquarius treated her with stony silence for days, until one day, she woke to find her treasured linen arm wraps, used to support her wrists in combat, had gone missing from her den. Charging about the castle in a panic searching for them, what should she find but Marcus strutting about the halls wearing them! A faint glitter of amusement shone in the Water Ridgeback's eyes. Incensed, she chased him all the way around the castle, shouting insults while he bellowed in laughter, until they reached the seashore and he dove in. Shocked, Garnet slid to a stop. How could he breathe without his fins? But he surfaced a hundred meters out to sea, and beckoned to her. Gathering her resolve, and shoving away the fear all Ridgebacks share of water, Garnet dove in after him.
The Ocean was an alien world, dark and sinuous. She sputtered in panic, but then the stolen gills kicked in and she could breathe, the cool water flowing down her throat a foreign and unsettling experience. Her broad wings were of no use down here, she discovered, floundering towards the surface. But then a current swept her up and propelled her her out to sea. For a moment she struggled harder, on the verge of panic, but then Marcus swam up beside her and she realized it was his doing. Smiling in invitation, he swam closer, a halo of bubbles around his head - apparently he was performing some Water magic that allowed him to breathe freely. Together, the two of them explored the deeps. There were no words in the timeless waters. It seemed as if years had passed when they finally resurfaced, but the position of the sun showed her it had only been hours. Speechless for once, she gazed into the eyes the Ridgeback beside her, feeling as if some unconquerable mystery had taken root in her heart. For once in her life, she felt no need to pursue its implications, content with not knowing. The moment broke when he glanced away, blushing, and began to swim to shore. "Wait!" she called out, finding her voice at last as she splashed out of the shallows behind him. "Again? Tomorrow?"
He turned, and tentatively reached out to rub his nose with hers. "Of course. If you wish it." An unexpected shudder of joy shot through her at his statement, and the two of them wandered back up to the castle side by side.
