____The Fisher


____You've barely begun to approach this determined-looking dragon, as she drops off her haul with the Watch, when she huffs. She doesn't turn from her task. And without so much as a backwards glance at you, she continues to methodically sort and descale fish. But she addresses you. "I suppose you wish to know what I do. Very well. I do this." She effortlessly slices up some of the larger fish, others she keeps whole and adds to a different pile, and some she throws into a sling around her waist. She clearly has some method of sorting, and does so with a frightening speed.

____Her jaw twitches. "Shamira would say that I need to elaborate. So I will, if only to save her the trouble of telling me to do so later. I am the lead quartermaster of the Watch. Perhaps they wouldn't call it that? It doesn't matter. I take care of supplies. I make sure we are stocked with food. If we starve overwinter, that is my fault. And mine alone." She glares down into the fish she prepares, full of disdain. At herself? You're glad she isn't looking at you, at any rate. Her gaze could make any living creature cower in fear-- it's no stretch to imagine she stared the fish into her net, somehow.

____"You may have gathered I am not a patient dragon. If you look for patience, look elsewhere. I am capable of teaching, if you wish to learn, but I will not slow down." Here--and this is the first time you've seen her do anything of the sort--she pauses. She closes her eyes, and takes a deep breath. Letting her claws rest easy, now that their tasks are complete. She swivels her neck, so that her head faces you. Now, with a calmer expression, she opens her eyes. Where before you saw a frentic, driven dragon, you now see a very old, terribly sad one. Sadness that can't be washed away with the sands of time. But it's also... a calm sort of sadness; the kind that's been there for years already.

____"Not many are suited to my style of teaching. But every year our clan grows, and now we have the Called relying on our stores as well. I cannot afford to dally my pace for the benefit of an apprentice. But I ought to have one, as Shamira is so fond of reminding me." She smiles weakly, and stands up. Her task of sorting the catch now complete, you sense she is on her way to her next stop. Actually, you get the sense she rarely gets the chance to stop at all, as you contemplate the time-weary look on her face.

____She nods at you-- a brief, curt gesture-- before shaking off her moment of melancholy and resuming her strident pace. Ever onwards.
