"It's a hard thing to imagine how somebody copes with grief and at the same time has to build a new life."
Amaia’s first home was a small Plague clan by the name of The Sanctuary of Calamity. It was a small clan, sure, but it showed a lot of promise. Their queen, Queen Morana, was a brilliant leader. Proud and regal. Amaia was born to two brilliant dragons, and her siblings were each talented in their own right. Amaia was one such dragon. She was highly regarded and respected by her clanmates. She had incredible scouting skills, and was known for her sharp senses and quick ability to learn. She was also incredibly intelligent, seeing as though she was the daughter of a scholar and a teacher. Amaia was dedicated to her role as a scout, and devoted to her clan and its prosperity. Then, The Collapse. Tragic event after tragic event claimed the lives of several members of the clan. And then, the clan camp was burned to the ground, claiming the lives of the rest of the dragons with it. It was clear that the Plaguebringer no longer blessed their clan, and that hope for their clan was lost completely. Amaia was devastated. Her entire family was ripped away from her so violently and abruptly. She was entrusted with the last two eggs of the royal leaders by King Pythios moments before he died. And then, she left. She wanted to put as much distance between herself and her old home as possible. Her main focus was to care for the eggs she was put in charge of and find a new, safe home for them. She didn’t make it too far before she had to stop and rest, exhausted and pained by the experience. Not long after she set up a little camp nearby The Sea of a Thousand Currents, the two eggs hatched. The two hatchlings immediately reminded her of their parents, despite both being Guardian dragons. For some time, they remained in that little clearing. Until Amaia was certain they were strong enough to travel somewhere, anywhere, far away from the Scarred Wasteland. Dubbing the dragons Marhena and Zeno, she kept the truth about their past a secret for as long as she could, fearing how the two orphaned dragons would react. During their travels across various regions, they recruited more dragons into their small group. Stav, Hotaru, and Nilam. Once Marhena and Zeno were old enough, she finally explained to them what happened to The Sanctuary of Calamity. While the two dragons were pained by the truth, both of them used the news to further fuel their desire and drive to find a new home and make a clan for themselves. And Amaia was relieved to see hope in their eyes once again. |

When they arrived at the Sunbeam Ruins, Amaia was surprised by Marhena’s excitement and insistence that this be their new home. Amaia was overcome by the beauty of the region, the bright, brilliance filling her with hope and happiness. While she was nervous, she could feel deep down that this would be a good home for the traveling group. Not long after their arrival, they met a young Light dragon by the name of Rasul. The blind Imperial spoke of their destiny there and welcomed them with open arms. He explained he was an Oracle of Lightweaver, and that She had sent him a vision of their arrival. Amaia was skeptical at first, fearing the power of the Dragon Gods after what she had endured from Plaguebringer. Rasul assured her that Lightweaver was different, and their new home would be different. With Rasul’s help, the group built their new home: The Radiant Thunder. When their clan was first built, Marhena insisted that Amaia become the Queen. But Amaia refused, requesting one of the siblings take the role instead. With Marhena accepting her place as Queen, Amaia found her place in the clan as a scholar and record keeper, pursuing a role that would honor the parents she lost in The Collapse. Amaia has become a very quiet and reserved dragon. The tragedy she had witnessed humbled her immensely and matured her at an incredibly young age. She has given up her former role as a scout and decided to follow a path more similar to her parents in order to honor them. She dedicates her time to reading, studying, and writing down the history and records of their clan. She also has a few books that explicitly detail the rise and fall of The Sanctuary of Calamity, as well as her travels with her friends. She tends to keep herself shut in the library she created, even forgetting to eat for a couple days. Marhena and Zeno occasionally force her to come out and socialize. Their small clan holds her to an incredibly high respect, and although new dragons often ask her about The Collapse, she avidly refuses to speak of it in much more detail than she already has. She is incredibly scared of forming new bonds and wants to suffer the kind of loss she has suffered ever again. She became a foster mother or mentor like figure to many dragons, including Marhena, Zeno, Stav, Hotaru, and Nilam. She still has a very close bond with all of them, and whenever she isn't in her library, she can be found visiting one of them. She holds those close bonds dear to her heart, and she loves them all as if they were her own. They often go to her for advice, and she does her best to be involved in important moments in their lives. Her partner is Everett. She found the other dragon rather frustrating at first, as he often came into her library to bother her and ask her questions. Then, he mentioned the book he wished to write, and the idea thrilled Amaia. His disorganized mess of a room, however, did not. Frustrated, she spent days organizing everything and trying to get a good idea for the book with everything Everett had. Even more frustrating, he didn't seem bothered by the amount of time it was taking. After spending time with him, writing his book and attending plays, she soon realized her own feelings for the other dragon. And it terrified her. She attempted to push him away, but Everett wasn't easily discouraged. He was in love with her, and she with him, and he refused to let her past get in the way of that. No matter what it took. Amaia, after talking to Marhena and Zeno about it, agreed to try. Pretty soon, the two were happy together, and now have two wonderful sons that she adores. Though she still struggles with bouts of withdrawal and terror of the future, they are less frequent and far less severe. |
