"Don’t touch that! Actually, just to be safe, don’t touch anything."

Rook is an easygoing, if a bit eccentric, dragon. He’s exceptionally talented in biomancy, a discipline that is inherently unsettling. No dragon is quite certain what the limits on his brand of magic are, but most have agreed it’s probably best not to ask.

His greatest passion is amphibians, which he often seeks out to study at length. They are his charge, though in a way that means he is more than content to simply observe them and leave them be when he’s finished. He does have a few that he found injured and have become permanent residents on him and around his den.

He also has a marginally less intense interest in dissection, collecting specimens and taking notes on how their anatomy functions. It’s part of what makes him such a talented biomancer and healer. About third on his list of interests is healing dragons, but at least he’s polite enough not to voice it most of the time.

However, it can’t be said that he doesn’t genuinely care for his clanmates. He just doesn’t show it quite the same way as everyone else.

Rook was hatched out of the firstborn clutch in an exceptionally affluent family. It guaranteed him a soft, comfortable life and a substantial inheritance ... except Rook had no interest at all in carrying on the family name.

Instead, he was much more interested in splashing through mud in search of frogs and cheerily dissecting specimens on the good tablecloths. When he came of age, his family disowned him at his request, leaving him to pursue his passions in peace.

Over his years of wandering, he has honed his skill in biomancy, the magical manipulation of flesh and bone. It was this skill that he marketed to the clan when he wanted to settle down there, as the clan was was sorely in need of a healer. If pressed, he may admit that he really settled down in the area because of the incredible diversity of amphibians, though most would agree that his healing makes him invaluable anyway.

That isn’t to say that he routinely uses his biomancy to mend injuries. Quite the opposite in fact, as he much more often uses the more conventional, less magical forms of healing. The effects of biomancy are unpredictable at best, which a high likelihood of error and the potential for extreme physical pain and trauma. He will usually insist that “if you aren’t immediately dying, you’d better heal the old fashioned way.”
