Biography

| EULER | [♫] Something Went Wrong
{ Genealogist | He/Him | Gay, Poly }

He was born to nameless masses of white and green, which looked down upon him with eyes dead from hardship. “He’s too weak,” were the first words his ears ever heard—not from his parents’ mouths, but from an unseen source, a mottled smudge on the horizon. “Get rid of him. Try again.”

He was never given a name of his own; he was not a person, so he did not deserve one. Callously, cold and unfamiliar hands ripped him from his mother’s arms, and he was cast out into the unknown. His wings were too wet with amniotic fluid for flight. His claws were still dull, yet to fully form. His vision was blurred from the sudden roaring all around him, of words, and wind, and scales on harsh tile.

He didn’t understand it then, but they meant for him to die.

Instead, he dragged himself into the nearest cranny and waited. He waited, and watched, and grew stronger on the little things that crawled into his space. Other hatchlings came and went, other parents, other mottled smudges, but never once did he call out to them. He knew, somewhere deep inside, that he must survive on his cunning alone. They would not help him, and he could not help them.

When he arrived in Feldspar territory, he was already well into adulthood. How long he spent in that little crag, he could not say—nor was he able to recall his flight from it or where his birth clan might lie. “All I was able to gather,” he told the founders, “is that they were trying to birth a perfect being, and I didn’t make the cut.”

He has not spoken of his past again since that day.

With the recent influx of new potential clientele (a la Clan Aphaster and the expansion of Trader’s Walk), Euler has thrown himself more fervently into his work than ever before. His efforts came to fruition when he patented a new method of genetic analysis—and he doesn’t intend to stop there.

“Genealogy isn’t very well understood here in Sornieth,” he said in a recent interview. “We have various magical methods of retaining information, but not very many related to recalling it once it’s been lost. I’m hoping to start work on some basic memory spells, with help from the clan’s magic-users, very soon.

"Of course," he added in hushed tones, "I’m going to try and wheedle some info out of Techne if I can, seeing as House Xanna deals in memory pretty extensively, but I’d probably have better luck drilling Betelgeuse than I would a loyal Xannite, so we’ll see where that goes.”
