Loyal claims that he was an accomplished torturer and executioner before settling in Feldspar territory, but whether or not this is true remains to be seen. Regardless, he's here now, and most of his clanmates seem to wish he wasn't.

There isn't much that can be said about him beyond his potentially fabricated background as a professional sadist. He keeps the details of his past to himself, and anyone who inquires after it a bit too insistently will receive a grim reminder of why he is so terribly disliked among his peers.

You'd do well to take your curiosity elsewhere.

Loyal's primary duty is to his own interests; it just so happens that his interests are of great use to Clan Feldspar. With extensive knowledge of diseases and ailments, as well as several cycles of practical experience in the medical field under his belt, Loyal is both an excellent doctor and advisor, when he can be convinced to cooperate.

However, he remains as obsessed with rot and decay as ever and would rather spend his time researching than treating the sick. They provide excellent opportunities to study the manifestations of illnesses within living subjects, but he has no real desire to heal—or to be of any help to anyone in any way.

The only creature he appears to have any fondness for is his familiar, Zito. Zito was originally a lab animal, but Loyal maintains that the golem was not one of his subjects. ("I would never use a cat as a test subject!") Wherever Zito came from, he's here to stay; Loyal has often remarked that he would give his life for his little friend.
