ILMARINEN

B I O G R A P H Y

______ Ilmarinen comes from deep within the fire territories, from a family of glassblowers and artisans. His mother and father, although wonderful parents, had a lot of children to look after and Ilmarinen always felt left out and alone. For so long he tried to get into glassblowing but found working with fire boring and the craft was definitely not for him. Her preferred the smell of parchment, the look of an ink splatter, the sound of a quill scratching across paper; he loved to write, research and study...His many siblings made it hard for him to do what he loved, and soon enough he became sick of it. So he made the big decision to leave the clan...and to try and find his own little niche in the world.

______ Despite all his efforts and attempts, Ilmarinen struggled. He struggled to find a job, a place to stay, a clan to call his own. He travelled far and wide, each time he stopped somewhere his hopes and dreams slipped a little further away. After a while he had given in and turned to head home, the heaven's opening up as if mourning his failure. Whilst trudging along dejectedly in the rain he came across a Male Guardian. He was splendid and a ray of light in the darkness; adorned in reds and golds, he towered majestically in front of the young Imperial. The two started talking and Perseus, the Guardian, offered Ilmarinen shelter back at his home. The young imperial gratefully accepted, following the guardian back to his place to dry off and recover from his lengthy journey. Ilmarinen stayed at the Clan for a while after that due to developing a sickness. Perseus looked after him, tending to him and making sure he had everything he needed, keeping him warm and rested. He read Ilmarinen stories and spoke to him for hours on end. Ilmarinen learnt about Perseus' background and that he was a Cleric, persuading the dragon to show him some of the things he did. Of which Perseus willingly obliged. The two had lengthy conversations about Clerics and scholars and the more they spoke, the more Ilmarinen realised that perhaps he had found a place after all. Turns out there was a need for a scholar in the Clan and the young Imperial happily offered himself and his services.

______ Thus Ilmarinen had found his home in Clan Allesmeira. Under Perseus care he recovered to full health and started his life as a scholar under the Guardians' guidance. The two of them were hardly apart; always buried in books and scrolls, always surrounded by paper, quills, ink and wax. After spending a lot of time together something grew between the two dragons, something other than mutuality and friendship...they fell completely head over tail for each other. Their love grew quick and it grew strong, however they kept to themselves as they were not sure how the clan would react to their 'unconventional love'. To keep up appearances both dragons found female companions to be with despite only have eyes for each other. It was broken to the clan members one night by a hatchling that had spotted them having a moment together and they had to confess. Much to their delight the Clan accepted them for who they were.

______ So, in the end, Perseus found his charge and Ilmarinen found a home and a loving partner. After struggling for so long, Illy (Perseus' pet name for him) finally could be himself and was finally happy.

We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.

Doesn't matter if you fail to succeed, what matters is if you fail to try.

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
