Jongin

The ocean in a drop.

It took Jongin many years of searching before he found the clan he would call his own, the place and people he would protect for the rest of his life. While Telchine will protect the caves and territory the clan calls its own, Jongin has the strength and the Charge to protect Tethys and so the clan itself, and he will not ever fail in this duty.

For all he lives in Fire, Jongin is nonetheless dedicated to the now-absent Tidelord, and spent many years in service to his birth Flight's founder. For this dedication his hide was forever marked with sweeping kelp - a final gift before he left his home to seek his Charge. Even having found his Charge, Jongin still seeks to spend time with water - and is thus glad that his Charge's clan is by the coast - and does not waver in his faith.

In part due to this and in part due to Tethys' own accepting nature, the clan is thus always welcoming of new dragons, even those who wish to remain connected to the Flight of their birth - and even those who might wish to leave their home, live in fire, and follow an element which is neither.

An able hunter, Jongin has helped to train any number of the clan's younglings in the basics of combat before they're let free into the world to go where they will. In addition he helps to hunt to feed the clan, providing large amounts of fish, sea birds and the like to sustain them. Lastly - and to him at least, most importantly, he protects Tethys, using all his well-learned skill to keep his Charge safe.

Day to day, Jongin spends most of his time with Tethys, with the clan's offspring, or down at Firefall Port, observing the new arrivals and swimming in the water. When Ennis first arrived, she discovered a shrine to the Tidelord in the submerged caverns off the coast, and Jongin spends what time he can spare there, hoping for some answers from his missing patron god.

As yet, he has had no reply.

He refuses to allow this to get him down, however. His magic persists, his blessing lingers and lasts, and these all speak to the idea that, whether he answers their prayers or not, the Tidelord still lives and has not forsaken them utterly.

Firefall Port: A small port in the clan's lands, made at the request of himself and the now departed Cataract and Clara, it is a simple, mostly metal structure, with carefully carved wooden beams marked in the clan's sigils. An obvious landmark for those approaching by sea, it is key to the clan's trade.

Exotic Fish: The product of many years of hard work, Jongin's collection of exotic fish live in a carefully managed aquarium in his rooms, the magic of it something he checks each day. Each is of a variety fish he remembers from his childhood, and watching them brings him nothing but good memories.

Tidelord's Blessing: The kelp that marks his hide is no small thing, being a parting gift from the Tidelord when Jongin's training and years of dedication were complete. Since the Tidelord's sudden disappearance, Jongin takes comfort in how the magic persists: as long as his kelp still moves, he believes the Tidelord lives.

Water Shrine: One of a few items he brought with himself when he left the Sea of a Thousand Currents in order to seek his charge, the statuette which forms the centre of his small personal shrine was created by his mother as a parting gift for him. He loves it dearly.

Tea Collection: At the end of a long day, Jongin likes nothing more than to settle down with his dear tea buddy, Adeios, and enjoy one of their many, many, varieties of tea. Each have their own personal collections; Jongin's personal favourite is a spiced sweet kelp tea.

- Name Origin: Unknown. Jongin joined the clan after a long life of his own; he was named by his birth clan, not Tethys'.

Like Tethys, Jongin takes the time to get to know most familiars which pass through the clan's lands, which is how he came into contact with this one. As ever, any time a new selection of familiars pass through, one ends up latching onto him, and he is glad for the company until such a time as they choose to move on.
