PERSONALITY

Adventurous, fearless and confident, Ennis can be more than a bit imposing to those unused to her. The stiffness with which she holds herself on land doesn't help matters, and many a more anxious dragon has been intimidated by that alone. However, in the end, mostly Ennis wants for things to work out for the clan; as long as visitors have no intention of hurting the clan she's willing to listen.

For the most part, Ennis keeps to herself, and has no real interest in romantic entanglements. Nonetheless, she has an on-off relationship with Aquarius, with whom she's had several nests. While they don't consider themselves romantic partners, they do share the care of their offspring.

ABOUT

A bold, strong individual, Ennis isn't easily cowed by other beings or even the weather. While she has a firm respect for the wildness of the sea and a healthy fear for its deepest, darkest depths, she loves it too much to ever leave it and wants to see more so much fear rarely stops her. The one thing to have cowed her when it comes to watery depths is the disappearance of the Tidelord - made worse by how the waves and creatures of them have become wilder in His absence.

Ennis was hatched in a small coastal clan of dragons and learned to swim before she learned to walk or fly. Unsurprisingly she has a preference for this, disliking how ungainly she is on land as much as she does the unpredictability of wind in the air. In water, she says, she always has a sense of where she's going and what to expect.

It is then, perhaps, rather surprising that Ennis ultimately chose to make her home in Fire - but there is where her Charge took her, leading her to a hidden shrine of the Tidelord just off the coast of Tethys' clan. The shrine, it should be noted, is not her Charge, but it did bring her to the notice of the clan who enquired as to her presence and offered her a place to stay. It was then staying and passing time with the clan, that she found her Charge: Firefall Port.

The brainchild of Jongin, also born of water, albeit a deeper, older clan than her own, Firefall Port was created with the intent of increasing the clan's ability to trade - while overland was easy enough and they had a few couriers to trade by air, the sea was not something they'd yet taken a chance on and Jongin saw it as a new opportunity.

Ennis saw the port under construction and immediately fell in love, working on it day and night and making regular suggestions for improvements. As a coastal waterborn she'd had more than her fair share of experience with boats, sailing and ports, and many of her suggestions were warmly embraced. By the time the port was finished she was already considered a familiar member of the clan, and once she made clear her intent to stay, that the port was her Charge - well, it was the simplest thing in the world to make her the harbourmaster.

Ennis takes her job seriously, keeping a close eye on all vessels that enter her port. Poorly tended boats are given a good clean, barnacles scrubbed off, new sealant painted on, rigging repaired. Shifty, suspect boats are inspected, whether their captain wants them to be or not. Unexpected vessels are treated warily, but enough of them are new traders developing their routes and usually end up returning. At the end of her day Ennis takes her reports and presents them to Tethys, Jongin and Alectrona - none of them have yet had cause for complaint.

RELATIONSHIPS

Tethys | Superior

The one to approach Ennis about perhaps joining the clan and to entrust Firefall Port to her care, Ennis has the highest respect for Tethys, as well as no small measure of gratitude. While Ennis doesn't spend much time with Tethys generally, the two do sometimes sit down with tea to discuss reports and interesting encounters at the port.

Aquarius | Companion

Many of the clan readily admit that they do not understand the partnership between Aquarius and Ennis. The pair in question, however, find it extremely straightforward. Neither has any interest in romantic bond, but at times both want companionship. They find what they seek in each other, and have thus had several nests together.
