A drop of water in the flame.

Matriarch of the Clan, Tethys is vicious in defence of her own, acting as mother and mentor to all members of her clan regardless of relation. Hatched on her own in the vast plains of the Ashfall Waste she chose her own name, made her den in a series of caverns nearby to her hatchsite and was, oddly enough, quite content on her own. Eventually, however, she was found by Telchine, who recognised her home as his Charge. Seeing that she was unwilling to leave, they instead brokered an alliance, settling in place together. Since then they have become close friends and have welcomed many new dragons into their home and clan.

Tethys has taken several lovers on over the years, but she has only made nests with two - her closest friend, Telchine, and Jongin, the Guardian who found her Clan's cave system and recognised Tethys as his Charge. The pair became close, Jongin becoming a silent shoulder of might behind her leadership and it is with him she has made all nests since. Nonetheless, her openness and honesty has won her another ally - her wings are blessed by a mark of the Lightbringer, for her dedication to truth, clearsightedness and honesty.

These days Tethys plays grandmother more than mother, and trusts those members of her clan with a preference for martial pursuits to handle any fights that might start over territory borders. Her clan keeps their territory well patrolled and clear of danger, hunt, fish, forage, and scavenge for what they need, and do not overreach unless they have true need. Instead of stretching outwards, her clan delves inwards - digging deeper and farther into the grand mound in which their cave system rests, piping magma away for other uses, gathering steaming water in pools until it cools enough to water the fungi they cultivate in the cooler reaches, and making sure, always, that they have enough space for more.

With the shift in magic that has prompted varied eyes and return of Ancient Dragons, Tethys keeps an eye out for any possible danger - but she is not unwelcoming to these strangers either. After the clan birthed its first primal, the Arcane Sorceress Kyria, Tethys has been more curious about the scope of such dragons. Though the next two primals born to the clan chose to leave, the latest, Pyrmal, has proven to be a prodigal forgemaster, surpassing the expectations of his mentors of Telchine and Herculanea and expanding the forges as he went. Between Kyria and Pyrmal, Tethys' clan has become known for phenomenally well-crafted and well-enchanted pieces of jewellery; it is not uncommon for hatchlings leaving the clan to take some such item with them to their new home.

Though an able fighter, Tethys prefers to play peacemaker than warrior. Some might think this is due to what she is - a mirror who spent much of her life alone - but in truth it is simply her nature. She has found the building of her home fulfilling, has found it's change and development exciting, and enjoys seeing what her family creates. Were it not for their differences they would not have investigated the catacombs far beneath, extended the forges so much they awoke a sleeping Veilspun, or built their grand gardens, a spot of Nature in amongst Fire's lands. Thus, Tethys seeks to cultivate the differences of her clan while keeping them nonetheless cohesive and coherent - unified and unique at once, a million unique puzzle pieces slotting together into a greater whole.

Private Journals: Hidden from most everyone in the clan, Tethys' private journals are where she confides her hopes and fears for the clan, as well as her plans for it's future. Hidden within its pages are lists of hatchlings, whether they stayed or left, and what became of each.

The Clan Forges: Hatched and grown in the Ashfall, Tethys learned how to make the most of the minerals she could claw from the earth - and what she could make of them. Under her leadership, her clan is strong and her craftsmen ever more skilled. The recent forge expansion is something she's deeply proud of.

Lightbringer's Blessing: Though dedicated to the Flamecaller as the very source of the magic which gave her life, Tethys nonetheless treasures the Lightbringer's Blessing dancing across her skin which she earned through her own hard work, honesty, and clear-sightedness.

Simple Gold Necklace: One of the first things she ever crafted herself, it is enchanted with modulation magic, allowing Tethys both better control of her own magic as well as allowing her to modulate her voice. As long as she wears this necklace, she can always make herself heard.

Flamecaller Statue: In a shrine in her own chambers is this statue which Tethys created herself - one of the few non-metalwork pieces she ever worked on. The product of long hours of work (and still a tad wonky) it acts as representative of the goddess she prays to each day.

Clan Treasures: An extension of her pride over the forges, the clan treasures are enchanted artefacts created by Herculanea, Telchine and Pyrmal. Powerful evidence of the clan's abilities, both as craftsmen and as enchanters, Tethys keeps some of the best pieces as examples of her clan's craft.

- Name Origin: Tethys is the name of a Titaness and Sea Goddess in Greek Mythology. Named here for her blue colouration, despite being born to it's very opposite.

- Nicknames: Clan-Mother, Clan-Ma (as a play on Grandma)

- Likes: Making sure everyone's getting along. Her clan doing well. Having those she loves around her.

- Dislikes: Arguments, unfair disputes, false accusations and unnecessary discord. Anything that makes life more difficult than it needs to be.

Tethys takes the time to get to know most familiars which pass through her clan's lands, which is how she came into contact with this one.
