Though he's told this to less souls than one can count on a hand, a long time ago Zephure very nearly drowned in the ocean that he now calls his home. He remembers vividly flying through a storm, trying to get away from something-- then searing pain as an errant bolt of lightning struck. And then nothing.

He regained consciousness days later on an abandoned beach, his body intact but his memory wiped clean. He struggled desperately to remember if he had family, a home, anyone at all. Would anyone be looking for him? And what was he trying to escape from? But most importantly... how did he survive?

And soon after, a voice in his mind answered back at all of his questioning. An unearthly voice that made his stomach drop to his feet. It told him he was saved because the Tidelord deigned it, and that he was now the deity's ward. He must now save others from drowning as well.

This message from the Tidelord would become the single greatest driving force behind every action Zephure would take from then on. He threw himself into the ocean again and again, becoming a guardian of the waves, saving countless creatures from a watery grave. And yet... he craved that voice again. He wanted desperately to speak to his Lord again.

He read, he learned, he absorbed knowledge about the Ocean Oracles. He sought out more and more powerful oracles to guide him, even some of other flights to dip his claws into other flavors of prophecy. His original mission slowly faded. In time, his deity's mental message became warped in his memory much like the amnesia that blurred everything about his past. He now sees sending dragons off to Exaltation as the ultimate method of "saving" lives.

Zephure currently spends his days recruiting seekers to search for the Tidelord, rounding up Exaltees to curry their deity's favor, and leading them off to Exaltation. He once gently guided Evendellen and Viriera, but after Grief emerged he was no longer held under any kind of scrutiny. Grief now demands the Tidelord's favor by any means necessary.
