"Show me how big your brave is."
❁ STORY
Laid back and gentle, Daeddrin is arguably the clan’s greatest physical asset. His proficiency in battle is unparalleled, matched only by his head for tactics and the ability to communicate them efficiently. And Daeddrin is more than willing to demonstrate his skills in a fight. Beyond practicing it himself, he also makes a point of passing his knowledge on. He’s of the opinion that every dragon should have at least basic self-defence. He trains anyone who wants to learn and often spars with the more capable warriors to keep his reflexes sharp. Xhinhai is his favourite to practice with. Norok is good, agile and quick to strike and retreat, but Xhinhai really puts him through his paces. How she uses her strength he has less time for but he'll never deny that she's good in a fight (and is quietly glad that she's a friend). Daeddrin showed up at the clan one bright sunny morning covered in dust, a wary glint to his eyes and a posture that they didn’t know at the time was a good indication of his capacity for a fight. It wasn’t until he’d bathed that anyone even realised his wings weren’t a dirty brown but a vibrant blue; and he stepped carefully for a full fortnight afterwards as if expecting some sort of backlash in response. It took him a while to loosen up, but when he did it was quite a loud change. Daeddrin excels in social situations, a kind dragon with a warm heart he is more than capable of becoming friends with pretty much anyone. (Though Fiend was always an exception.) His near compulsive flirting with every pretty dragon to pass him by came later, paired with a charming half-smirk and jokes about being a desert prince. Though honestly, with his excellent grasp of the practices of the more elevated bloodlines in Sorneith, it’s all too easy to believe that maybe he’s not just teasing. That, perhaps, his shimmering wings are a mark of royalty wherever he’s from, that he was outcast or disowned, disgraced or merely bored with the lifestyle. Maybe he’s in hiding. He doesn’t talk about it. Though Callana is more than happy to fill the gaps in his story with exaggeration, and Crossfire is happy to discuss politics with him as though he knows more than the ambassador himself. And when he lets his guard down, when the façade of a laughing, untouchable warrior falls, he’s blurry around the edges, soft and quiet, more refined. Someone dorky in his charm, thoughtful in his romantic inclinations, considerate and helpful; someone guests and outsiders never see, someone reserved exclusively for those he trusts. Someone who believes all the hatchlings should be taught combat, sure, but they should also be entitled their childhood; they should have fun and never mind the complexities of adult life. This, more than anything else, is indicative of his good nature. ❁ OTHER
