Ciana
The Gentle Thorn
Friendly | Klutzy | Vengeful

Ciana grew as a rather lonesome dragon: born in an extremely large clan, she was (as was the norm there), lumped in with all the other hatchlings to be raised by a group of caretakers. Despite being in such social surroundings, she was quiet and awkward, extremely shy and halting when speaking with others. As such, she was either shunned by the others at best, and horribly bullied upon at worst.

Despite being treated so by the other hatchlings, the caretakers deemed that the social environment was too important and vital to a dragon's upbringing and forced her to join even more activities that made her interact with others.

Eventually, Cianna had enough. During one night, on the cusp of a new moon, she bided her time till the lone dragon guarding over the hatchlings turned her eye away, and she slipped away, her navy coat blending perfectly into the shadows.

Ciana wandered Sorneth alone. Despite her breakaway from the clan, the damage had been done. Learning to fend for herself, she recognized her greatest asset was her magic. Blood magic, to be specific, and in the darkest of times she clawed runes into her flesh to deepen her ties with it. Eventually her blood soaked into her limbs, staining them forever crimson.

Despite her tendency towards solitude, she still had to barter with other dragons. Other clans. Over time, she learnt how to smile. How to joke. How to laugh. She learnt to be kind and gentle, and to accept things as they came.

However, the blood magic deep inside her rallied against this. It fed on pain and despair, and her learning to overcome this made it desperate. To keep itself alive, it took the pain and anguish she buried deep inside her, the mental scarring she tried to but could never forget, and manifested them into thorns.

And with a smile on her face, a perfect mask to hide the pain, she kept on going. Kept living.

Yet, one day. Sitting by the edge of a pond. Gazing off into the distance. Ciana finally took a deep breath, a second... and then allowed a single tear to fall. As the thorns and vines tightened around her, delighting in her moment of weakness, there was a rustling in the bushes. She twisted an elegant neck around, startled at the sudden sound, and watched as a Guardian made his way through.

Heavily armored and crackling with cyan, she stared at him with startled wide white eyes. A quietness descended between the two, and just as it reached the point of awkwardness, a heavy and pleased purring arose from the ground and Ciana looked downwards to see a large tabby winding circles around her feet. A helpless grin broke through her face, and that was the moment Alessi and his cat cemented themselves into her life.
