The Wind Reader

SUMMARY
Tanja joined clan Rivensong shortly after the clan settled on Welkin island. Born alongside the coast, she brought with her a great knowledge of the wind, sea, and how they work together to create the complex system of weather in the southern region. Her use of magic pulls knowledge from the legend of Windsinger's fight with the Tidelord- while wind magic is her strong suit, as it is her heritage, combined with her knowledge of water magic it gives her greater power to understand the storms and wind systems of the south.

Knowing that magic is stronger when used with the understanding of other elements gives her greater power. She tends to avoid conflict, preferring to spend her time studying the environment and helping the clan plan around major weather events. Despite getting along well with most of the dragons in her clan, Stormhawke often comes into conflict with Tanja and the two can be seen arguing fairly regularly.
HISTORY
Tanja spent the majority of her life traveling along the coast of the Windswept Plateau, staying with other travelers in between the cities and towns she stayed at. Living most of her life on the open road gave her a greater understanding of the weather patterns in the region, as well as a healthy respect for some of the more intense winds and storms. This was where she developed the philosophy she approaches magic with- that all things are connected. She has no formal training, all of her power and knowledge comes from her own personal experiences and studies.

Looking for work, she found the Rivensong. Deciding they could make use of her knowledge, they agreed to hire her on for an indeterminate amount of time. Her predictions and magic proved to be a great boon to the clan, making their raids much more profitable and preventing many ships from meeting their demise in deadly storms. Having grown to like many of the dragons within the clan (and earning a healthy amount of payment from the successful raids) Tanja chose to remain in the clan permanently when her original contract expired.

Tanja enjoys the flexibility working with the clan gives her- she can travel with the raiding ships if she gets the urge to wander again. She is closest to Ozensa, one of the first dragons she befriended when she first came to the clan. Both dragons spend quite a bit of time together. Stormhawke, however, regularly clashes with Tanja- while they both have magic related to the weather, their differing personal philosophies tends to bring them into conflict. While Tanja does not particularly like Stormhawke, she still has a begrudging respect for her.
