There is pride in one's heritage, and Asha knows that better than most. Able to trace his roots to two of the very first Imperials, he isn't soon to let anyone forget it. The royalty coursing through his blood gives him a superiority complex that knows very little in terms of boundaries. His seemingly enhanced ability to perform healing rites, at least in his mind, stem from his pureblood heritage. The other dragons in the clan who are not pure blood create a frustrating situation for Asha, who holds purity of blood above nearly all else in the world. He makes attempts to view the others as more than the muddied blood of their mixed heritage but it is hard for him, especially when it comes to pearlcatchers.

His mate, Chusi, is one of opportunity rather than one of love. Their relationship was created from an arrangement to keep the blood lines pure, bringing something they both cared deeply about together in order to hatch yet more pureblood Imperials. Although Asha is just as cynical and cunning as his mate, he tends to see things in a far less black and white, good and evil sense. There are morally grey areas and there are some morally black spots that even he will refuse to tread lightly. Sometimes he finds himself being the voice of reason for Chusi. It isn't out of love or concern for her, personally. It is out of the love and concern for the pureblood factor. She is a valuable player in the game of status that Asha won't soon let go of.
