Magum

Magum found her way into Starbound as a dragonet. A tundra dragonet. She could not remember her parents, nor anything but her name. She'd come through The Scarred Wasteland to get to Starbound, but all she could say about it was she traveled with an “old, grumpy dragon.”

Due to how little information they had (and by that, I mean none), they could not return her to her family. So Chax and Cerulean, a young spiral couple who were unable to have children, adopted her. They themselves were childish in many regards, but they loved and cared for her deeply.

The world is so big yet so small. Somehow at the Trickmurk Circus in Shadow’s lands, years later, she found them. She'd hoped but never expected to see her parents again. And they invited her to their home.

She met Citress, her second oldest brother and the one who lost her; Vrentu, her third oldest brother; and Oyster, her adopted oldest sister. Her relationship with Oyster was rocky at first, despite their similarities, but in the end she reconnected happily with her family.

Yet she did not stay. She had another family in Starbound, one she did not wish to leave.

And everything went downhill from there. Starbound was having such bad luck it seemed almost deliberate. The Alchemist’s mistake caused an explosion, which somehow (despite many explanations on Arcane magic, she still didn't understand) made the island float higher and higher, which caused a mass exodus. And even after it was fixed, they still did not return.

And then the misfortune struck her specifically. What with everyone leaving, she didn't really have many dragons her age to hang out with. So it made sense she always followed around the founder’s son, Alastair. He was cheery, social, and fun. Alastair seemed so confident and cool.

Magum might have had a crush on him. Maybe.

And she was bored. Yeah, Alastair was handling the former Alchemist's dangerous concoctions and stuff, but she figured he could still chat. So she burst in and startled him. Causing the accident that she wished never happened.

Where's a time traveler when you need one? (Answer: in a Shadow clan, with his brothers).

The different brews and potions mixed when Alastair’s control slipped. They splashed down on him and her both—but mostly him. And he was different (so was she, but butterfly wings and runes weren't that big of a deal). Alastair was now a Bogsneak (and stuck too), but his personality was what got her. It did a one-eighty: grouchy, unsocial, and...not him.

It was her fault, guilt weighed heavily upon her, so she promised herself she'd get him back. It wasn't easy, as he blamed her for the accident and didn't want to be around her (not that he wanted to be around anyone). And the ease in which she talked to him was suddenly gone. She'd always been a little shy and insecure around other dragons, and his newly developed glare didn't help.

She truly would go to any lengths to fix this though. Even breed-changing herself to a Skydancer so she could understand better, so he wouldn't be alone.

It helped. Her “clumsy grace” she gained when she breed-changed (though she always has had the clumsy bit) intrigued him. It started something and soon they were friends again.

And now she understood. Not everything. But a few things made sense. His new breed had instincts and urges the old never had, his responsibilities had tripled (as, even while this was going on, Starbound was plummeting straight into a new problem) and he was stressed, he was worried about the runes the accident had given them and was working on that (she gained the ability to turn almost anything to chocolate, which was awesome, but the point he had about where the magic was drawn from was a good one), and to top it all off he was worried he wasn't himself anymore.

And maybe he was a little different (or a lot). But Magum could still see the quirks and beliefs (two things seemingly unrelated, but both belonged uniquely to him) he had had before. He was still him, now she just had to get him to believe that.

Magum is bubbly and loves adventures. She can be a chatterbox and be all crazy hyper, yet is secretly insecure about what others think of her. She's surprisingly good at lying and covering up what she really feels. Appears open and relaxed, but just hides things deep within. Eager to please. Doesn't take criticism well. Stubborn, loyal, and can be just a bit clingy.

Nineteen. One year older than Alastair, her boyfriend and eventual mate (but not yet, 'cause I want to do stuff).
Tundra memory issues were solved with the breed change.
Is basically Alastair's (not-so-secret) stalker.
Feels a little useless ‘cause I'm overworking her whole Starbound family except her. Sorry, Magum.
Exchanges letters with Oyster.
Alastair did manage to fix her runes. Although it changed to stripes, for some reason. (Again, she'll never understand Arcane magic).
Her runes were speculated to have had that effect because she had had chocolate in her fur during the accident, and the liquids mixed with it.
Loves chocolate (of course, why else would she have it in her fur?). Except white. ‘Cause not real chocolate.
Owns a chocolate ferrat named Truffle. Has not tried to eat him yet, despite many dragons worries.
Called her Midas’ touch like ability “Magician’s poke.”
Likes to do magic. The slight-of-hand kind.
