E ki was always an odd one. Cheerful and friendly to a fault, but no one ever knew anything about him. He would always have a far off look in his eyes, like he was looking for something...someone, but no one ever knew who that could possibly be, not even Eki himself it seemed...

It had been the perfect plan, or so he thought. Become the clan's greeter and tour guide so he'd be able to meet every new person the flying city came across. maybe then He' be able to find what he was missing. The dragon he knew in his very bones he needed to find. The urge reminded him of guardian dragons and their charges in a way, but he knew somehow it was different. It wasn't an urge to protect, just to find. He didn't know what would happen when he finally did find them, only that he needed to.

The night he finally found them, it was cloudy and dark, thin rays of the full moon filtering through the dark clouds that were obscuring the stars. And then he saw her. She came through with a group of traveling musicians, her brilliant red wings catching the rays of light that sifted through clouds, making them shine like stained glass even in the dark of the night.

As Eki stared in awe, he felt his instincts kick in, telling him to fight or flee, the urge so powerful he was barely able to contain himself from shifting to do exactly like that. As she turned to meet his gaze and smiled, he felt his body forcibly shiver, unable to tear his gaze away, pinned by her gaze like prey before it's imminent demise. With a slight tilt of her head as if inspecting him and a condescending huff of laughter, she finally turns away leaving Eki finally free to move again. The orange-striped coatl sinks to the ground, only just now registering the blood trickling down his chin, and his claws digging into the soft dirt of the ground beneath him. He'd transformed, partially at least. Bit his tongue when he did apparently he thought as the bitter tang filled his mouth.

Who was this imperial to paralyze him with such intense fear? What was she to illicit such a response from his moonshifter instincts
