Every few hundred years, depending on the lifespan of the dragon, a hatching from the Earth Clan is chosen and raised as a brave warrior and protecter of Ceres, Goddess of the Harvest. Caz has been her loyal guardian for the past century, much to his chagrin. He must bow to her every whim and fancy, he appears to perform his job with reluctance and apathy, out of duty rather than caring. But despite his persistently aloof and irritated mood, he does genuinely care for Ceres deep down, despite her eccentricities.
His duties extend not only to the protection of the goddess, but to the protection of his own pearl. By the very nature of his rearing, his pearl is deeply connected to the goddess herself. Every layer is a memory of her, a feeling she exudes, it is imbued with her very essence and power. For a deity to be so intertwined and connected with an object spells danger for her safety. If anyone were to obtain the pearl, they would most certainly hold a great deal of power over Ceres, possibly even be able to kill her.
