B I O G R A P H Y

Poteet hails from the Shifting Expanse, where she was once a secretary for a major power consortium. She's an old friend and pen-pal of Ianna, who wrote to her often about her life in the lush, quiet town of Magnolia-by-the-Sea. Exhausted by the cutthroat business world and longing to pursue her gardening hobby outside of a cramped greenhouse, Poteet finally threw down her pen and paper, announced her retirement, packed her bags, and made the trek northwards.

Once in Magnolia, her hobby quickly bloomed into a passion, and she worked with vigor beyond her years to establish herself as one of the town's foremost farmers. She grows myriad fruits and vegetables on her farm, but her particular specialty is berries - especially strawberries, for which she's become quite famous. She's assisted on her farm by Cholla, who she informally adopted after an incident where the young and adventurous veilspun wandered too far from the clan nests and ended up, terrified and lost, on Poteet's property. She's also helped out by the brothers Baxter and Barda, who she took into her home when they first arrived in the clan. Poteet treats all three of them as her own grandchildren, and while the brothers now have their own lodgings, they are always welcome in her cozy, tidy farmhouse.

Poteet has a sweet, grandmotherly disposition, but has not lost one ounce of the shrewd alertness needed to survive the ruthless corporate environment she comes from. She has no patience for those who would try to exploit others, and virtually no interest in profiting off of her produce. These tendencies have led her into something of a rivalry with the businesslike Basilio, and the two can get into some very lively arguments during clan trade meetings.
