There are many reasons one may throw themselves fervently into the heat of battle; the rush of combat and the scent of blood, or seeking glory through victory upon victory and carving their names into the ancient stone of the arena.

Sahara fought for herself, to survive in a world where she knew no differently. There was no glory that called to her, no blood thirst. It was simply fight or die, and so she fought and fought and fought. Felling opponent after opponent, bringing in gold and fame to the one who deigned himself her handler.

She would fight him too, eventually. Unhonourably.

He was found dead and she was found missing, fleeing the blood-soaked sands she kept on the moves for days on end until exhaustion claimed her. When she awoke she was greeted by the warm sun and a gentle voice. Dirae does not call her to fight, more often than naught Sahara's presence is a deterrent in of itself.

But still she stands ready to defend the one who has given her sanctuary with nary a second thought nor attempt of coercion. The time she does not spend by the Peacekeeper's side is spent in the nursery, sleeping peacefully as hatchlings clamber over her, or in Fei's bookshop.
