B I O G R A P H Y

When she was just a hatchling, Belle - then Unnamed - was cast out into the wilderness of the Southern Icefield as an offering to the Icewarden. A lesser dragon would have frozen to death, another specimen in the Icewarden's collection. But even as a hatchling the Tundra was nothing if not a survivor. She trudged through a blizzard one step at a time, with the howling winds slashing her face with ice and coating her legs and wings with frost. In the storm's confusion she lost her bearings, and instead of heading southeast to the Fortress of Ends like she was supposed to, she got turned around and headed north, toward the Frigid Floes.

Once more, Belle proved herself a survivor. After walking to the very edge of the Frigid Floes, she suddenly heard growling behind her. She had wandered too close to a pack of wolves, and now they were going to make her their next meal. The largest wolf in the pack - the alpha - snarled and leapt at her. Thinking quickly, Belle jumped to the side and the wolf missed, its paws striking the spot where she used to be.

And then the ice broke.

That close to the edge, the ice was heavily unstable. It had barely managed to hold Belle' and the pack of wolves earlier, and the force from the wolf's strike was the last straw. The ice broke into pieces, sending Belle and the wolf adrift on an ice floe hardly bigger than a fully-grown Coatl.

The two of them stared each other down as the ice floe drifted along the ocean currents, neither backing down. Belle didn't dare sleep, for she knew that the wolf was hungry, and would gladly make a meal of her if it could. Finally, on the second day adrift, the wolf broke the stalemate. It leapt at her, fangs gleaming in the sunlight and saliva flying from its mouth. In response Belle bared her canines.

And then she killed the wolf.

She spent another week adrift, curling up in the dead wolf's fur for warmth and chipping off pieces of ice for water. Finally the currents carried her half a mile from the Ashfall Waste's coastline, where a fishing patrol from the Clan of Roaring Waters found her and brought her to dry land. They tried to ask her about her family, her clan, where she had come from, but she either didn't know or didn't want to tell them. So they took her back to the Clan of Roaring Waters, where she learned combat training and took up a job as part of the scavenging crew. Eventually she would become the new Ice Representative after the old one left, a title she has held ever since.

B I O G R A P H Y

The clan leader Radiance named her Belle, a name which means "beauty." And Belle is beautiful, she is beautiful the way the Icefield is beautiful in winter, when everything is covered under a blanket of snow and everything is either frozen or slumbering under the ice. Beautiful, and cold, and deadly. She skinned the wolf she killed, and now wears its pelt over her cape and thick winter coat. Belle is a dragon of few words, and is as cold and distant as the land she comes from. Her Frigid Emblem is both a mark of her status as the clan's Ice representative and her survival of the worst the Southern Icefield could throw at her. Ever since she joined the scavenging crew, Belle spends most of her time outside searching for materials and trinkets to bring back to the clan. She has trained her familiar Calico to sniff out treasure, and her Gloomwillow Guide to light her way. Her closest "friend," if she has any, would be Raivis, the clan's Earth representative and the closest in age to her.

Belle has now become the clan's Ice Representative after the previous one left, giving up her role as scavenger. As the Ice Representative, she leads the worship service in honor of the Icewarden and Ice ideals. Belle is also supposed to bless exalts heading to the Icewarden, but her Ice Sprite companion Brr does that instead. Her role as Representative means Belle can't leave the clan for days at a time anymore, so she is sterner and grumpier than usual. Belle can usually be found in her room, pacing the halls, or in the vault enjoying the cold Ice magic that preserves the vaulted items.
