SUMMARY

Kar knows an opportunity when he sees one. When clan Rivensong came sweeping out of the Sunbeam Ruins, a rag-tag band of dragons in tow, Kar saw an opportunity for a new life. He started out trading for goods the clan needed out of his own traveling shop, but as the clan began to raid in earnest, he also oversaw most of the fencing that needed to be done. Now he manages the clan's entire market district, as well as most of the treasury, ensuring that the clan's pockets are always full.

A shrewd and cunning negotiator, Kar is not to be underestimated. Almost all goods are fair game, no matter how they were acquired, and Kar will do almost anything to ensure he comes out on top. Still, he is deeply loyal to the clan and bound by a strong sense of personal honor- he will try to sway every deal in his favor, but he will always keep his word. He is also known to have a soft spot for his friends and family, particularly his close friend Spiritdawn and his daughter, Midrin.

HISTORY

Kar was born in a small wind clan that lacked influence and money. He spent his childhood working every angle of advantage, trying to build connections and trade goods. His first deals were shoddy, he lost money, and he spent many nights hungry. As he grew older and wiser, however, Kar quickly became a much more powerful merchant. He grew his connections and profit in equal terms, spreading his power throughout the wind markets. For a time, he even had a family, however his mate soon left him and his only daughter.

It was by chance that he met the young wind noble dragon, Spiritdawn. She needed an order of fine goods, quickly and discreetly, and turned to Kar to get them. For a brief moment in time, there was talk of having the two marry to bring new wealth to Spiritdawn's family, but both parties were reluctant. The two quickly struck up a professional relationship which later developed into a steadfast friendship. They had their differences- Kar came from nothing, and Spiritdawn was born with power- but both were deeply ambitious and trusted each other. It was with deep alarm, then, when Kar discovered that an assassin had attacked Spiritdawn and scattered her family- and soon after, Kar's power in the markets was nearly destroyed and his daughter kidnapped. They decided to join with a group of wind travelers, which ended up settling in the Sunbeam Ruins for a long time. However, both missed the lands of the wind, and when clan Rivensong decided to split from the travelers and return to being traveling warriors, both decided to leave alongside them.

Kar quickly found his footing again as a merchant once he began working with the raiders of clan Rivensong. He has found a comfortable position and a seat of power with the clan there, with many allies and resources to draw from. It is not enough, however- for one day, Kar will discover who ruined his life as well as Spiritdawn's, and he will destroy them.
