Both of Hathor's parents were very interested in history and they ensured that that love was passed down to their daughter. From a young age, Hathor went with her parents to archeological digs around Sorneith, looking for various artifacts. She began to develop an ability to predict where good digs would be found, likely secondary to her water heritage. Both of her parents were very proud of her ability and were sad to see her go when she made an arrangement with Luciel to help gather artifacts for the library. Moving to the Hotaru Clan, Hathor quickly settled in to her work. While not a huge fan of her coworker, Indy, Hathor was impressed by his knowledge of the Second Age. Deciding to allow him to focus his attention on that Age, Hathor focused her attention on the First Age. While asking the gods themselves about that time would give her a biased response, she focused on studying the patterns in the earth that indicated the magical forces at work during that time, often having to call in various specialists, such as Geb for help reading the changes in the sediment layers. As such, she is also becoming known as an expert in knowledge about the Shade, the being intrinsically tied into the First Age. Both Tsuki and Niflheim rely on her knowledge to help them with their jobs, as well as occasionally offering up some of the knowledge held by the gaolers with regards to the Shade. |

When Monarch began visiting the clan, Hathor began to see him. The two eventually moved in together, marrying when Hathor was back from one of her frequent expeditions. He would come with her on her digs to help however he could, never seeming to mind that Hathor paid little attention to him during those times, mind buried in her work. It was on one of her digs that Hathor came across a composite of raw elemental magic left behind from long ago. The magic clashed with her own, causing some of her scales to flake off, revealing a bright gold underneath. Although Hathor was initially convinced that the flaking scales made her look ugly, Monarch's constant reassurances of her beauty have made her more confident in her appearance. Hathor has tried to be close with her children, however her job often means she is unable to be there for them as much as she would like. The only two who have remained with the clan, Tano and Inari are both different in their own right. Hathor worries that their oddities are related to the curse she bears. Inari's eternally child-like form and Tano's aged appearance aren't normal, after all. Still, she loves them both, even if she doesn't always understand them. |
