Personality: Belial is best compared to a Labrador retriever- easygoing, patient, unconditionally affectionate, always open to new ideas and experiences, and never judging. True to his guardian nature he is also protective, willing to stand his ground with fangs bared against enemies, while being gentle and nurturing with hatchlings.

Belial's most defining trait, aside from his loving nature, is perhaps his capacity for empathy. He acknowledges that there are people in the world who do horrific things and need to be stopped, and that sometimes violence can't be avoided if peace is to be maintained. However, he feels compassion even for those who would mean him and his loved ones harm. He argues that by the very nature of their evil deeds they have robbed themselves of the ability to feel real love, which in his opinion is what gives life meaning. While many would regard him as a fool and a dreamer, his open generosity and sincere nature has earned him the respect of several key people who understand the value of an honest, caring heart.

History: Belial is the founder of his clan's lair. He personally dug their lair out from the ice caves, and gathered the wood to construct the lair's nesting grounds alongside his longtime friend and mentor, Cosette the mirror. The two had lived as rogues in the Southern Icefields for a long, long time, and longed to find a home to settle and start a true family. Eventually, they came to a place that drew Belial like he'd never been drawn before, and heeding that pull he landed on a hillside in a wintry forest. There, amidst the trees and the snow, was a patch of amaryllis flowers, blooming bright scarlet. Belial felt compelled to bring water to the delicate blooms, to shelter them from the wind and the cold and drive off any hungry tundras with his teeth. Cosette realized that the flower patch was Belial's charge, and that they had to make their territory near to it for the sake of his guardian nature.

After a bit of poking around, they found a glacier near to the forest where the flowers were, which had a cave system hollowed out of it by the flow of a hot spring. Together they negotiated with the loner guardian Nidaigle- the hot spring itself was her charge- to start a den in the ice caves. Gradually they managed to bring passing loners together into their fledgling clan and as more and more dragons settled in the frozen caves, they naturally turned to the big, strong, fair minded guardian as a leader. He served his clan fairly and well for a long time, before finally deciding to retire and passing the reigns to the skydancer Anders.

Love Life: This guardian's most beloved friend and devoted mate is the spiral Morgaine. She taught him how to laugh and how to have fun, and he relies heavily upon her support and counsel. Aside from Morgaine his closest friend in the clan is the mirror dragon Cosette, who helped him found it originally and with whom he has two hatchlings.
