Lucent The Ice Mage As a hatchling, Lucent was always fascinated by stories of battle, and was always quite sure his charge was related to the battlefield. This wasn't much of a surprise considering his father's warrior prowess - what was a surprise was how much Lucent hated physical combat. He was certainly big enough to do damage effectively - he reached his father's size at adolescence and only continued to grow - but he felt like too big a target, too slow an attacker, and far too close to the action to see the bigger picture and react accordingly. One day, frustrated with a poor session of training, Lucent went to his Clan's library in search of the old warstories to see if they might reignite his interest. While the tales of fighters were now colored by his own less-than-rewarding experiences, there was one class of soldier he was still quite fascinated by - the mages. Despite knowing that Guardians traditionally were not good at magic, he couldn't resist the temptation to see if the librarian might have a book of spells he could read. Much to everyone's surprise, the book that the librarian gave Lucent turned out to be his charge. He was allowed to keep the book, and so Lucent had plenty of time to read it, and reread it, and reread it again. Eventually, he found it all coming together in his head, and after much practice, discovered how to cast magic. While he enjoyed his learning, even at its slower pace, Lucent knew he was highly unlikely to find a place as a warmage among the much more talented mages in his Clan. So when a dragon named Threve came from a Clan in the Ashfall wastes and mentioned that her birth home often sought out warriors of nonnative elements, Lucent realized the only way he was going to realize his dreams was to go elsewhere. It was a sad and reluctant farewell to his family, but south Lucent went, to see if this Clan Tigris needed an ice mage. Lucent has found Clan Tigris much to his liking. Despite an odd number of ice dragons - some of whom even have ties to his birth Clan - none of them besides Lucent are mages. Of particular interest to him, however, was Torque, a fire Guardian who also practices magic. Of the two, Lucent is far more talented in his use of magecraft - but he's intrigued by the unpredictable, powerful spells Torque sometimes casts. And of course, having someone who understands the challenges and turmoil of going against your breed's expected design. This stunning gent was a gift from Shinko! Treasures
