Biography

Tigerlily has a passion for lore and history. Her family tree contains many a dragon admired for their intellect, and her father was a mage who was skilled in natural healing magics. It's not surprising then that she was influenced greatly by the presence of the many scrolls and tomes available to her in her childhood home. Books and the information contained within were just as much a friend to her as any dragon she could name, and perhaps more so.
When it came time for her to find her own home Tigerlily ran into difficulty. Though other dragons initially tolerated her, they found her priorities frustrating. She would spend weeks on a research project and toss the clan's entire store of literature into disarray, but put off cleaning up afterward until someone else would finally do it. Interrupting her during one of her projects to get her to participate in clan life or chores was a lost cause. She could be incredibly stubborn if she thought she had found something, and would brush off her clanmates or attempt to get them involved to distract them. She considered most routine tasks, such as essential hunting, gathering, and cleaning, to be not only boring and difficult, but beneath her.
"I understand cleaning is important," She would argue, "But it's not important that I do it. Anyone can clean, and I'm not even good at it. Meanwhile, I am good at my research, and if I stopped I would lose my train of thought, plus someone wouldn't like how I'd cleaned up and would just do it again themselves."
"Grow up and do your part, Princess," one of the more aggressive dragons would sneer.
She did not want to do what she was told. She wanted to explain that she wasn't a princess, her father was a mage, not a king. An ancestor on her mother's side became a queen, but that still didn't qualify her for royalty.
Realizing that her situation made her unhappy, she decided to leave clan life and live on her own. Sure, she'd have to do some of the chores she disliked now, but at least she could do them on her own time. She established her new home in a mountain cave where she amassed an impressive collection of tomes and scrolls on lore and history, with some other topics thrown in for good measure.
While she left her collection whenever she wanted food or new reading material, Tigerlily didn't keep a schedule and largely lost track of time. It surprised her then when dragons started showing up at her home, which had never happened before.
"We've heard a legend of a scholar who lives on this mountain. We're in search of historic knowledge that our clan has lost, may we examine your collection?"
How excellent! Tigerlily thought, Fellow scholars! Of course they will be able to see the same value in my work as I do, and I bet they bring with them knowledge that I don't have, too!
So Tigerlily began to allow those who sought her out to do their own research from her collection. It was the first real interaction she'd had with other dragons in... months? years? It wasn't clear but it hardly mattered. Tigerlily felt invigorated and excited for all the new potential this change brought.
This excitement came to a head on a day that started like many others but ended unlike any had before.
"Hello," a skydancer with dark black and purple feathers called as he entered the cave. He was followed by a green tundra and a mirror with bright purple wings. "We are on a bit of a quest, and so are in search of some context to a clue we encountered. May we access some of your texts?"
"A quest? A clue?" Tigerlily's eyes lit up, "Is it of the ancient sort? That's where I specialize, but please, do tell."
She learned their names were Malachi, Mossdew, and Violet, respectively. She didn't normally feel the need to remember her visitor's names, but this felt different. She personally escorted them through her collection, watching with suspense as old tomes and ancient scrolls pieced together facts and phrases until it revealed a possible answer for their mysterious clue.
The trio was amazed, thrilled even, and Tigerlily couldn't help but resonate with them. She was happy and now deeply intrigued, so she felt somewhat startled when they discussed leaving. She had forgotten about that part, and now she'd never know where the mystery would lead.
Unless...
She weighed her options in her mind only to discover that joy must be denser than parchment if it is so able to tip the scales.
Her collection could manage without her for a little while. Tigerlily wanted to learn what a real adventure was like.
