Biography

Malachi is well aware of how life sometimes shifts you in unexpected directions. He tries his best to take it all in stride.
Originally born to the Light flight, he didn't truly find his first home until he was welcomed into a clan residing within the Abiding Boneyard. He lived there for many good years, happy among his found family. The relative peace they lived in would not last, however. Various clan members were suddenly drawn by a call to service from the Plaguebringer, while the remaining members prepared for a long collective hibernation, as if demanded by instinct.
For the first time in his life Malachi felt out of place in his clan. He did not sense the call from the Plaguebringer, nor did he feel the draw to hibernate like his clanmates. Torn between two paths that seemed inaccessible to him, Malachi sadly concluded that he could not follow his clan to either fate. He let his clanmates know of his intentions and said his goodbyes before striking out on his own for the first time since he was a hatchling just trying to find his place in the world.
Malachi took this opportunity to see parts of the world that remained unfamiliar to him. He traveled aimlessly, simultaneously mourning the loss of his previous life while feeling strangely liberated by his newfound freedom. He grappled with his emotions as he flew in search of nothing in particular.
It was luck, complete chance, and the tiniest thread of curiosity that brought him to fly among the thermals above the Highland Scrub that fateful day.
He hadn't paid the decision to travel that way much mind. The warm wind ruffled his feathers and held him aloft almost effortlessly, which made the heat of the sun almost bearable. He was contemplating this state of easy gliding when he realized he could hear voices down below his flight path.
Glancing down with detached curiosity, he observed a pair of dragons, a mirror and a tundra - all alone, how strange - that were calling out.
No, not just calling out, calling up. To him.
Once he realized this he couldn't help but listen closer to make out their words, descending unconsciously as he focused more and more.
"Hey! Hello!" "Hi! Who are you?"
What's going on here? He couldn't help but wonder. Are they in trouble? Why are they so desperately trying to get attention from a stranger?
As he accidentally lost altitude in his distraction their shouts only got more enthusiastic. Realizing what was happening, he decided to commit to seeing what they wanted. He flew down to land beside them, his claws sinking into the hot desert sand.
"Hello?" He replied uncertainly as the two immediately approached him. He could sense that their emotions were friendly, so he was unlikely to be in danger, but he still didn't know what exactly to make of this development.
"Hey! Hi! I'm Violet, and this is Mossdew," the mirror announced, pointing at herself and her companion in turn.
"I'm Mossdew," The tundra repeated with a nod.
"Who are you?"
Malachi determined that the only way to follow up here was with his own introduction, which led the enthused pair to continue to explain themselves, unprompted. They were on some sort of mystery quest, which they had no knowledge of but insisted was deeply important.
Malachi was struck by two sensations at once. The first was the sense that these poor souls had no idea what they were getting into, and based on initial impressions he couldn't help but feel that they would need assistance if they were to make it in, well, whatever they were doing.
The second sensation was a draw.
Oh no, he thought, Really? This is it?
But a part deep inside of him already knew the answer was a resounding Yes.
Their fates were intertwined, and regardless of the complete lack of knowledge surrounding this quest, Malachi felt pulled to it like it were the obvious answer.
"An important quest?" He looked between his two new companions, taking in the shift in his life as it occurred. "Well, it seems like you may need some help with that."
