Marvel couldn't remember a time before she was special. It had just always been that way.
She had been told the story more times than she could count, however.
A member of the Order discovered her, a lone hatchling in the wilderness, while on a journey to find a new headquarters. In this time of turmoil, Marvel was not just a sign, but a gift. It became clear where the Order of Illuminated Souls needed to go, thanks to her. And she would be taken with them.
Shortly after her spontaneous adoption, it became clear that Marvel was special beyond the Order's initial willingness to see it in her. She began to say strange and occasionally unsettling things to the adult dragons around her, the kinds of things that didn't make sense or a hatchling shouldn't know enough about. And then these things became true.
Marvel had unpredictable prophetic visions, they discovered. She was their gift, and she was special.

Much of Marvel's life was spent as a being of worship. She was guarded, protected, and provided anything she could want except any freedoms, which she hadn't considered enough to ask for. Her life felt normal. Normal was spiritual consultations and dictating her Visions to be announced to the members like it was doctrine.
Despite her efforts and those of the leaders, no amount of training would allow her to control these Visions. Everyone would certainly love her more if she could predict on a whim, but still the answers evaded her.
Her life continued on in this normal routine until one day a group of strangers arrived and wanted to see Marvel.
This certainly wasn't the first time that travelers wanted their futures told to them. While the Order allowed it, outsiders were always viewed with intense suspicion. She was warned that motivated strangers would try to destroy her in spiritual jealousy of her abilities, or otherwise trick and betray her.
What was unusual about this group was its size and the diversity of personalities that were present. Most travelers arrived alone to represent a clan or group, while some traveled in small bands of like companions. In contrast to that, this new party consisted of a Mirror, Tundra, Skydancer, and Imperial, none of whom looked remotely related, or bound by a single clan banner. These dragons certainly weren't pilgrims looking for spiritual connection, they were something else entirely.
And they were desperate to speak to her alone.
