Biography
Scarab grew up in what could be called a rough household. His parents were rarely home, raising the hatchling with a fingers-crossed method, and when they deigned to be home they weren't the kindest parents. Scarab made himself scarce as often as he could when they were home, traveling outside often to partake in his favorite activity: scavenging.
Others in the clan he grew up in would call it stealing, but Scarab preferred to call it the procuring of treasures for better uses. It wasn't always someone else's belongings, but sometimes it was, and either way, it kept him busy and out of the home, where his parents constantly berated him for his small hoard of belongings, delegated to a small area of the cave.
Unsurprisingly, once he reached the proper age, Scarab left. Perhaps it was a testament to the way his parents treated him that he didn't so much as leave a note.
Two weeks of traveling later, and Scarab found himself setting foot sneakily onto the land of a clan called Starwing. It was there, where he set up a small living area outside of the clan's borders, that he met someone special. Beatrix, a trans dragon with a backstory somewhat similar to his own. She had run away from home as well, though her parents had been more on the ignorant side than outwardly abusive. All of this information he gained from other dragons, particularly Lumos, as that was the only dragon she seemed to talk to. Oh, he wished he could talk to her. Every time he tried he either stumbled over his words or couldn't catch her in time before she had disappeared again, skittish little thing she was.
And so the sneaky scavenger continued to harbor his crush in secret, while collecting a hoard as big as he could ever want it to be, free of his parents and in a place he felt happy to call home.
