Pippet is a dragon difficult to pin down both physically and metaphorically speaking. The shimmering eldritch dragon is much like a tiny newt with wings; a constant wiggly blur with a knack for getting into trouble. The small bundle of energy just so happens to also contain a potent core of mana. However, despite her magical potential, due to Pippet’s wild nature she is unable to maintain and utilize her natural craft. This left her with little else to do but go out and see what the world had to offer. She once spent her days blazing through clan after clan, kicking up a fuss in some small attempt to help. Sometimes she succeeded. Most often she did not. That was, however, until she happened across not a Clan to her own but a dragon to call mentor. And a place to call home (whether or not she was actually welcome.)

It was a blustery day the two met, Pippet caught up in a whirl of wind too powerful to fight. She let the gust carry her along for a time wondering where next she would end up when suddenly the violent gust of air ceased to be. The tiny little spiral, caught off guard, plummeted a few meters making a hapless bid to right herself. Rather than the very rough, gory end she envisioned a very hard and rigid snout appeared out of nowhere and broke her fall, the tiny drake wrapping around the hard muzzle like seaweed clinging to a limb. She very much looked the part, too. It took a brief moment to catch her breath, her world spinning from the circles she spun falling through the air, until finally she popped herself upright ready to meet and greet her saviour and newfound friend.

She had turned her head towards the larger dragon, little canines poking out past her scaly lips and prepared her best squawk greeting. Instead she stared slack jawed struck with sudden awe unable to utter a word. Pippet’s entire world shifted and everything suddenly felt right the moment her eyes met with the icy depths of her rescuer. She had very literally been dropped onto a dragon of divine beauty and incomparable grace. Beautiful, prim, demanding, imposing and a host of other just as supercilious words struck the spiral as she gazed upon the stranger. Introductions were short, the master of the arcane introducing herself rather rigidly as Nightshade. Though her glistening silvery blue alluded to Icefield origins magic emanated from her in cool plumes of violet smoke marking the gift of the Arcanist. There was no question what sort of work the skydancer performed, she held herself primly and spoke in with silvery tones. A witch- a powerful one. And Pippet decided from that moment on Nightshade would be her forever mentor, a witch with no equal and no better.

The Skydancer was none too pleased with the intruder, not that Pippet really cared. Nightshade could do nothing to remove her second shadow once the tiny Spiral latched on (very literally.) No amount of gentle coaxing or dripping the offensive beast in acid could convince Pippet she was not welcome. From wily persuasion to attempts at hexes and curses and dropping her in a boiling brew, Nightshade fought daily to remove the wiggly beast from her presence at every opportunity. Worse yet Nightshade harbored a notion the blood of an old enemy slithered through the veins of the now radioactive flying newt. If there hadn't been good cause to rid herself of her ‘student’ before she couldn’t stand to have the spiral around a second longer now with this gut feeling. Months passed with no success. With every passing day her attempts grew more bold, more aggressive.
Perhaps one day she’ll succeed. Maybe a violent gust of wind will pick up the little vermin and throw her so far across the land she’ll land on the Tidelords nose instead. Perhaps it was a fluke she landed atop Nightshade delicate snout instead. Or maybe something will accidentally eat her mistaking her for a snake or other slimy, scaly snack. So far no hex, no poison, and no amount of offhand promises of death and destruction of have been able to do so. She’ll figure it out. In time. She had better. The nuisance grows more attached with every moment of every day and she cannot fathom how or why.

Pippet meanwhile spent every waking second making every moment count in the presence of her adopted mentor. Her world was once unpredictable and rather drab truth be told. She’d had no idea what fate had in store for her and didn’t think much on it. To find herself under the tutelage of such a pristine and magnificent witch was near unthinkable. Maybe her help wasn’t always appreciated, or even wanted, but that did not deter the little spiral. It really only spurred her on. She would do everything in her power to aid Nightshade complete her tasks. If she had to do it while the skydancer had her back turned, well, sometimes she would be none the wiser. Usually that wasn’t the case but Pippet always held out. This was by no stretch of the word undeniably better than the life she led before. A world of magic, of danger, of not knowing what the next day would bring. Or the next minute even. Perhaps her personal nature conflicted with Nightshade’s but so far the attempts to pry Pippet away were unsuccessful. And she would make sure it stayed to. This did nothing to improve Nightshades opinion of her. But that’s okay. She’s willing to stick around and see if perhaps it does.

Until then Pippet passes each day in bliss, thoroughly enjoying the presence of her arcane guide. She helps wherever possible, keep the rather isolated skydancer good company, and works studiously to improve her own craft to better aid her mentor. Sure she’s been through a few toxic spills and violent hexes but what is a newbie to do but live and learn? She’s never really been all too bothered by the malicious magic as it does her little to no harm. She can live with it. Anything to better improve her relationship with Nightshade. Her fealty is unbreakable. Unlike Nightshades tolerance.
