"POSEIDON was the great Olympian god of the sea, rivers, flood and drought, earthquakes, and horses."

Poseidon lived in an underwater palace with his wife Amphitrite and their son, Trident, as well as many other sea deities. He was said to be able to call forth a storm to sink a ship, and call back a storm to save it, all of which he commanded with his mighty trident. He was also the creator of the horse, which he formed in a competition with the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, in order to become the patron god of the city that later became Athens. Given the name, clearly Athena won with her creation of the olive tree, and the two have shared a famous rivalry ever since. Still, Poseidon is said to be the master over all horses, as well as the protector of honest fishermen and seafarers.
