Biography

Αφροδιτη
Beauty of Olympus
Romantic Red Rose

"APHRODITE was the great Olympian goddess of beauty, love, pleasure and and procreation. [...] Her attributes included a dove, apple, scallop shell and mirror."

Aphrodite was born from sea foam, and possessed a physical form that was said to be completely flawless and stunningly beautiful, so much so that she could woo anyone she wished. However, she was married off to the god Hephaestus by Zeus, who feared that otherwise everyone on Olympus would fight endlessly over who would get to marry her. Unfortunately, she did not love Hephaestus, and cheated on him with Ares, her frequent lover, with whom she gave birth to Eros as well as the other Erotes, who formed her entourage of love deities. Aside from Ares, Aphrodite had many other lovers, most famously Adonis, although many others- both mortal and immortal- were also written in myth. Many of her affairs ended in further dilemmas, and she could be very petty. One classic example of this is the story of the Judgement of Paris, in which Aphrodite's vanity causes the Trojan War.
