Many a foolish creature saw Akatsuki for the first time when it was already too late.
Raised in the Shadowbinder’s domain among Nocturnes, it is no surprise that Akatsuki has, perhaps ironically, taken on many of their mannerisms: unlike other Coatl, who would scorn her, Akatsuki cherishes her dusky plumage and the camouflage it grants her. She is sneaky, she is stealthy - there is little that separates her and the shadows from being as one. But though she feels at home in the Tangled Wood, any dragon living there can attest that it is a dangerous place, and while it might not quite be on the Wasteland’s level, dragons there have to learn to survive. In Akatsuki’s case, this meant ensuring that her agility was at the level of her peers, and doing whatever she could in order to stay alive. A young dragon with hardly any path in life, it is no surprise that when members of her clan left for a darker road, she would occasionally follow as far as she could go. This and the dangers lurking at night have made her into a capable killer, as much as she regrets being as such. Akatsuki, however, isn’t entirely the cold-blooded assassin she seems: the latter part would be correct, but she craves affection and will often show a softer side of herself if granted this. She is still one of the younger members of the Clan, and it shows. Though Akatsuki tries to limit her relations to other dragons, she is particularly fond of Shiroe. As much as she’d like to leave her past behind, though, Akatsuki also seems to be drawn to the tricksters and shadow children among the Clan, even if she realizes she hates them about three seconds later. |
