New worlds and new lives; nothing new to a dragon older than time can measure. He was forged beyond this world born from the void. He grew a family found, protected those who needed him who had nothing else. He created a sanctuary from his very soul. He is the maker of doorways, his heart a deep well of magic. The Leader of Sanctuary. For a long long time that was all he was. He had to be strength and leadership and calm. He had to be strong and imposing and firm. One day he fell from the sky from one world into another. Fighting beasts tainted with corruption. Injured in the fight, he needed to heal. He met a man, a mage while he was weakened and vulnerable for the first time in a great many ages. Time warmed his heart to his caretaker, who reminded him to be a man, who allowed him to be a dragon. Colin helped him find the balance he needed and was the one whom he fell in love with. It was a life that needed work, but slowly and steadily he healed what he could, fix what may be fixed, and Ashvael was content with the future they could have. The man wasn't whole though. He was two souls merged at the seams; Two and one at the same time. He was Koli, the elemental, and Colin. His schism was both at peace and war for the man could not handle the idea of merging completely. He wasn't meant to. The man was supposed to be a summoner with his Familiar. Yet Ashvael could see where the magic used in his survival tangled the two beyond repair. The Master of Balance would never know true peace until they consolidated who they were with what they had become. It took time, but Ashvael helped the two souls grow closer, to bring them into balance. Portals and magic were always a bane. During one of his missions, Colin ended up displaced from his own world. Ashvael soon after followed. In the new world he became a drifting soul, he needed a body. Ashvael always did have the power to improvise. A freshly fallen dragon made the perfect vessel. For a time there was despair, for Colin was not the same as he was. How could he have survived as a lost soul? The answer was the Lightweaver. The deity found the soul, and forged it a body of light. Kolin was born, but Kolin did not remember. Ashvael was surprised, but the bond they forged in their old world was not lost. Somewhere within Kolin, she remembered. Yet time had passed, and life continued on. It took time to find her and the new dragon had started a new life. Ashvael knew he could not just remove her from this place, not without the potential of great harm. Even one as deeply entrenched in power as he, he could not change this, not yet. And so, once again Ashvael was at the mercy of time. He needed to wait for Colin to awaken once more and the newly fused souls to strengthen and become one. The Mage of Creation simply had to wait. At night he knows she dreams, he sees her wings outstretched, ready to soar; and Ashvael is ready to take flight with them. |
