Biography

Sadira's oldest child naturally liked the idea of magic. A child had to be opposite the parent didn't they? The warrior tundras in his clan were not much help to him. His spiral father, the hunter Chrysoprase, wasn't very interested either. Like the other clan spirals he was more interested in wandering off and learning things about other dragons, or whatever he came across. He seemed to think everything was a joke, including his son's ambition to learn magic. Maybe be a healer. Probably that would be useful to the clan. Nimbus, who was a warrior tundra his mother spent a lot of time with, thought that being useful was very important. Not an opinion his father seemed to share, but Dubhan wasn't quite sure that didn't make it right.

He spent a lot of aimless time trying to learn something of either trade when finally a young pair of Nocturnes joined the clan. The female, Eka seemed to have a lot better idea of how to go about things than Dubhan had and quickly became the clan's healer, assisted by her herbalist husband Shai. Part of the problem was that Dubhan was shy, all of the mates and children he had were when the lady approached him. Finally one day he managed to broach the subject of learning to heal with Eka, and ever since he has stuck close to the Nocturne pair, assisting them in their duties.

Over time, while Eka treated patients and Shai made medicines, Dubhan began to listen to the patients. His sweet and quiet manner seemed to encourage them to talk to him. He listened, he believed, he empathized. If he hadn't faced what they had faced, he still had felt the emotions they battled with. When Peacekeepers failed (usually because of their low numbers), and they found one of a clans few survivors with no physical injuries that Eka could help, they began to bring them to Dubhan. He could help the survivors find their own peace, help them begin life anew.

Life wasn't all listening patiently though. When a young spiral joined the clan he declared Dubhan his father. It was confusing but he tried his best for his adopted son. He wasn't quite sure how it happened and his son reminded him of his father, but twenty times the trouble. Lonan scoffed at the holy, he seemed to take rules as a challenge to break, and he took great delight in being different and wild.

Dubhan thought that he couldn't handle another rowdy dragon in his life, at least until Chanda came to Eka and Shai for healing. Chanda seemed to glow with an inner fire, she was brave, so brave. She stood up for the things she believed in and would put her life no the line for friends and clan. She spoke the words in her heart with courage. He knew she never hid things, never lied. Sure she liked to tease him, but her words were never cruel, they only made his heart pound and his fur stand on end. Though bright and wild in her own way, he never got headaches from her presence. He just felt more alive, more like he belonged to the clan, and always like he was safe.
