Means "fierce, hot, passionate" in Sanskrit. This is a transcription of both the masculine form चण्ड and the feminine form चण्डा (an epithet of the Hindu goddess Durga).

The lovely pearlcatcher is one of the crew on the airship Piper. Wind dragons are needed to keep ships in the air with their elemental abilities, but most have a second job as well. Chanda is amazingly good at bringing in fish for the Captain to snack on though they are not to her taste.
During a battle she was wounded and sent to the care of Eka and Shai. Of course those two come with their apprentice Dubhan, who she hadn't spent much time with previously. She knew he was acclaimed as the most beautiful wind dragon in existence by the rest of the clan. Up close he was breathtaking. He was also endlessly kind, serenely patient, and great fun to fluster. More importantly he listened. She knew he never judged anyone, never lied, and every word he spoke was precious because he considered it deeply. It was amazing how he knew the right thing to say, to support her when she was down, to call her out when she was wasn't being true to herself. As time went on she spent less time on the Piper, trading duties with others in the growing crew. She spent more time catching fish and playing pranks on Dubhan. It surprised no one, when one day she finally dragged the meek tundra back to her platform and announced to everyone he belonged to her. There was only nodding and murmurs that they made a beautiful pair, so no one had to die.
