The glow was so bright, so encompassing, so, soethereal that he couldn't look away. He'd never seen ice --even though he was a Tundra, he had no desire to-- but at that moment the light felt as delicate but as sharp as the reflection of a full moon on an ice flow.
And the he saw, faintly, an outline of a dragon, more beautiful than any he had seen.
"Niklaus," it said.
"Niklaus,"
"Niklaus. Niklaus! Niki, wake up!" His nestmate shoved a furry foot into his stomach. "It's breakfast!"
He opened his eyes, but the image was burned into his vision like spots were after looking too close at the sun.

 Unlike his father, Nikalus wants nothing more than to train. As a hatchling, he had a dream about a massive glowing dragon, of immense size. Shortly after, the Acolights told him about the Lightweaver. Since then, Niklaus has believed it is his destiny to join the Lightweaver through exalting. Nikalus had some...problems...following him dream, though.
  1. His siblings were all exalted. This made his Guardian father, Crysis, clingy. He visits Niklaus whenever he has some free time.
  2. One of his clan's firecrackers, Yaazania, who has moral objections about exalting and has no qualms about getting into ferocious shouting matches with Niklaus. Matches that he, to his frustration, always seems to lose.
  3. His mate, Depthon. He seems to lose shouting matches with her, as well.
-sigh-

After ages of arguing, Niklaus realized that he could serve Lightweaver in another, important way. If Yaazania could be a voice against exalting, then he could become the community's voice for exalting. Or, at least, for trying to eliminate the stigma of exaltation.

Niklaus' took a significant personal blow when his mate Depthon was sent away to join a massive battle between Plague and Ice flights. Many of his clanmates thought that the loss would change Niklaus' mind about exalting, but after many days his began his campaign with a renewed voracity. He believes that pushing for a dragon's right to voluntary exaltation will help eliminate forced exaltation, which he paradoxically believes is one of the worst fates for a dragon.

Representing the Tundra Project, Niklaus is a member of the Clan Clutter Council.
