A gentle and somewhat innocent soul, Vyrdala means no harm by her raids; she simply subscribes to ridgeback "borrowing" traditions. The mutual affection between her and her little entourage of animal companions (of both furry and feathery kinds) is proof that there's a genuinely kind nature beneath that bulky pelt and intimidating spines.

A kind nature that, perhaps, forms a rosier perspective than is sensible - she's occasionally more trusting than she ought to be. As a hatchling, she wandered a little too far from her birthclan on one of those "borrowing" expeditions, playing and chasing after a flock of owlets. Cryo chanced upon her and was quite taken with the little ridgeback - enough for the taking to become rather literal. (Cinqero smoothed it over with the birthclan, just as he always negates the consequences of Cryo's whimsies.)

Which isn't to say that Vyrdala is unhappy. She grew up with a number of caretakers, all loving enough to make up for any ineptitude in parenting, and elderly Mauve was always there to steer her back on the right track. She's even found a close friend in Nereizza, and looks forward to their meetings more than anything else despite the pearlcatcher's silent refusal to leave the sea.

Numerous bright stones decorate the area around her nest - charged tungsten and kunzite in particular. Vyrdala has always found herself oddly drawn to them and says their gentle glow helps calm her, like old memories.
