  A brilliant strategist and military commander, Rook once served the indomitable Lady Katja as her most accomplished warrior and co-commander of her forces. Her horde roamed the eastern borders of Sornieth's main continent, never settling for too long, and always leaving the clans that dared to cross them in ruins. However, Rook was not without his enemies in his old clan, and he was not without his doubts in Katja's methods, so when leadership of the horde was usurped by his co-commander and a price was put on his own head in turn, Rook and his mate quickly left their old lives behind in the dust of the Shifting Expanse.

Rook and Mananagi have fled south into the tundras of the Icewarden's domain, though Rook's faith still belongs to his old god, the Stormcatcher. His firm faith in the power technology holds over magic is unwavering, but Rook feels more at ease in his new surroundings with each passing day, and has even loaned his services out as a trainer for the clan's militia.

Rook's genial personality and generally trusting nature has quickly made him a friend to many of the Winter Sun, and he has the potential to become another advisor to the Jarl- but he is not well liked by all, and some of the clan's other military leaders consider him to be a threat to their positions. While Rook can brush off a bit of hostility, his mate is far less forgiving, and there's something about their new home that's putting her on edge.
