Biography
BASIL
He/Him | Clan Leader
Basil was one of The Drakewood’s founders, and is it’s current leader. He founded the clan alongside Nebula, a headstrong mirror eager to make her mark on the world, the clan’s first leader and his eventual mate. Basil had been happy to sit back and let Nebula lead, he loved her and the clan deeply, but never saw himself as the official type. He had simply wanted a place where he belonged, and now, he had it. After her sudden disappearance however, at the urging of Hyacinth, one of his mates closest friends and advisors, he took up the leading mantle. Now the small fae works hard at running the ever growing town, eager to keep the peace as best he can. Though he finds the whole ordeal stressful, he is openly accepted as a good leader to clan, and his confidence in his abilities slowly grows.

- Basil is well known as a very friendly dragon, and he tries to be as welcoming as possible in life. While this aids him in being a leader, it has also lead to him being a bit too trusting, especially with who he allows into the town.
- Basil is small and weak, even for a fae dragon, and he uses both a cane and a mobility aid to allow him to travel around. He grows fatigued very easily, and flying is fully out of the question, as he was born without the ability to metabolize magic. His mobility aid is an enchanted plant, he simply has to point where he wants it to go and make sure it gets enough sunlight and water when he's not using it.
- His original clan had been a fully fae clan built into the canopy of several large trees, and this left it rather inaccessible for Basil, a large factor to him leaving. Remembering this, he was sure to ensure The Drakewoods were built with accessibility to as many as possible in mind.
- Basil is very friendly towards all beastclan, as it was the beastclan village of Cloverhoof Grove that allowed the Drakewoods to be settled in the first place. He considers the Grove to be the clan’s oldest allies, and it’s leaders to be close friends of him personally. Basil has regular visits with the talonok linguist Prometheus, hoping to someday be fluent in the common beastclan language.
- Basil has a small personal garden, where he grows many small plants, his namesake being among them. He finds it calming, enjoys the act of taking care of things, and finds it helps him feel close to the Gladekeeper. He also often feeds small critters, and some of them have taken to following him around, much to his delight.
- After his mate Nebula suddenly disappeared, Basil was distraught. He loved her very deeply, and joined the searches himself. Eventually, though he will not voice it aloud, he grew to accept his mate was likely dead. Though there was no body, a grave was erected,the medium sized tree planted among the clans memorial forest. It’s often visited by many in the clan, but none more than Basil himself. He regularly leaves offerings to his mates spirit among the roots and branches, praying wherever she is, her spirit made its way back to the earth.
