About
Denna is the daughter of a prominent clan leader hailing from the Frigid Floes. During a clan mating season migration to the Ashfall Waste, a terrible windstorm swept the Ice clan deep into Plague territory. They were ambushed by the Coatl Clan, seeking retribution for treading on their territory. Nova negotiated for the Ice clan to pass through Coatl territory, but at a price; Denna was to remain behind as a hostage. The King accepted the sacrifice and assigned Denna to Nova's care. The Ice clan never returned to claim her.

Initially, Denna felt trapped. The coatl in the Grottoes were all new to her, and spoke a language that was nearly unfamiliar to her. Growing up in the Ice territory, she grew up speaking Common Draconian in a clan where coatls were the minority. After weeks of constant exposure to the native coatl tongue, Denna became more comfortable using it.

At first Denna was afraid to leave. None of the coatl would likely stop her. In fact, she’d have been surprised if Nova would even have noticed her absence. Plague territory is not kind to lone dragons, particularly outsiders, and she would likely be killed within the first fortnight away from the Grottoes. Denna waited and waited for her family to return, but when seasons passed and they never came, she suspected they just abandoned her. Instead of anger, she found herself... tired. She lacks the energy to feel strongly about the goings-on in her life, and instead numbly accepts things around her. Due to her anxiety, Denna is passive to a fault, fearful of the potential consequences of any actions she may take. Indecisive to a fault, Denna has a hard time with making decisions and choosing a course of action.

When Caero and Dorian join the Thistle Clan, Denna learns that her clan never made it to the Ashfall Waste and never returned to the Frigid Floes.

At the King’s demand, Denna is mated to Nova, though neither dragon are particularly interested in each other. Nova prefers to spend his time elsewhere, away from their personal lair, so Denna fills her time making ice sculptures. The heat of the Wyrmwound makes them melt quickly, and thus they require a lot of her energy to maintain. Without a regular job, Denna acts as a fill-in where there is a gap in the workforce. Denna enjoys this kind of work, though, because it gives her a chance to socialize with other dragons in the clan and it makes her feel like she is included.


Trivia
  • Denna is one of the few Thistle Clan members who can speak Common Draconian
  • Denna suffers from anxiety, caused by the culture shock of moving into the Coatl Clan and leaving her family so suddenly.
