  No one is entirely certain where Karliah came from; some say she wandered into the icefields one day and the clan allowed her to settle with them, but still others claim that she had been in the valley all along, and the garrison was simply built near her. Whatever the truth of the matter is, one thing is certain; Karliah is an indispensable feature of the clan. She has the air of an aging dragon with no shortage of tall tales to tell, though no one is precisely sure of her age, and she enraptures both the young and the old with her sometimes outlandish stories.

Storytelling is Karliah's passion, and it is her greatest skill as far as those around her are concerned. From humorous accounts of foolish hatchlings and their mistakes to meandering epics and poems, she has it all. She has a story for every occasion, it seems, and even those that might roll their eyes and scoff that they have better things to do than listen to children's stories find themselves drawn to Karliah's animated recountings.

Not every story she tells is a false one, though often it can be hard to tell; in truth, her mind contains an exhaustive collection of information about nearly everything that has ever happened in the southern icefields, from as far back as when only the gods' exalted dragons roamed the lands. It's unknown where or why she obtained this knowledge, or if it is even accurate, but Karliah has never led a clansmate astray and, really, does it matter how she knows things?
