Biography
Wake up, you're dreaming!
June 16, Year 29
When making records of the Ship's history (a duty he doesn't remember taking on but which must be usual for him), Wormix adopts an unusual writerly voice. He says he aims to capture the essence of the clan- its spirit. That is to say, he writes from a shared perspective, not from his own. That's why he- ahem, that's why I'm writing of myself in the third person, Meatheart.
Oh bother, now I've lost my train of thought.
June 6, Year 19
All attempts at relocating his hatchlings have failed, but Wormix still tries to give them the best education available in an ugly tree in the middle of nowhere. He is very proud of his children, and has named them himself (although Glitterguts was ultimately unable to evade a Humerus renaming).
Wormix now regularly attempts to sneak out hatchlings that Humerus has reeled in, and sometimes he succeeds… but for all his eclectic knowledge, he still has a lot to learn about dragonkind.
Meatheart tries to act like she's always been merely good friends with Wormix. He tries to remember that he's not speaking to her.
May 31, Year 13
The three eggs he and Meatheart conceived in a night of youthful folly have hatched and Meatheart, who during the nesting had been almost smotheringly diligent and affectionate, has lost interest seemingly overnight. Her job was over apparently, and it left Wormix feeling confused, used, and not at all amused.
Looking at his beautiful children, Wormix wished they could grow up in a less run-down lair with better dragons to look up to. Behind Humerus's back (he knew Humerus would never let a hatchling out of his tiny claws unless it was for Plaguebringer) Wormix set the hatchlings up for adoption.
May 21, Year 3
He often seems lost in thought. But when you ask him what he's thinking, he's already forgotten it.
He just showed up one day out of the sky. Humerus named him Wormix, and occasionally it occurs to him to object. But only occasionally. He's cheerful and outgoing when not suddenly extremely quiet, quite excited to do anything suggested to him, almost too suggestible really, too impressionable. It'd be endearing if he wasn't also a terrifyingly strong and accurate fighter.
Meatheart encountered him flying aimlessly alone and was immediately enchanted by how useful he was. She doesn't have time for subtleties.
It's not that he doesn't ever remember his home, he just never quite remembers for long enough to get there. It's not that he doesn't miss home, he's just surprised and, in some ways, delighted to be where he is, even when where he is is in the mouth of a Coarsefur Yeti with Meatheart.
Sporadically, Wormix will reveal some new skill or learning that he didn't remember remembering. It must be half-forgotten knowledge, but there's just so much of it vs. the limited amount of past that Wormix could possibly have… sometimes it seems more like a deduction. But who knows what's really going on? Not Wormix. At any rate, he had the potential to make it anywhere, but somehow he wound up here.
He was found in the company of an Aviar warrior. The two of them seem to have known each other for some time and respect each other as equals. Wormix says the Aviar helps him keep track of things, but in fact its memory is worse than his.
Is this where you belong now?
