Crimson ink ~ The Clan Leader

He couldn't understand. Not when there was just the two of them in the lair. Not when two nocturnes and a majestic imperial came. He couldn't understand them at all, although he tried with all his heart. The others towered over him, trying to make out what he was saying, over and over again. Gradually, the guardian understood him. And he understood her, and convinced her to stay. It was he who gave her the name "Aiko", "beloved".

Needless to say, he tried very hard to lead the Clan of Corrupted Illusions. When he realized no one understood him most of the time, he turned to the eldest one, the imperial, in desperation. And so Faerthurin became the clan leader. The days were peaceful under Faer's rule, and he was contented.

However, the frustration of not being able to understand the coatl tongue really got to him. His mind made up, he would abandon his identity as a fae and be reborn a coatl. Ever faithful, his mate followed his change. All of a sudden, everything became crystal clear.

They finally know how much he sacrificed, just to understand them and be understood. All he ever wanted was to welcome them to the clan.

He just wanted to be friends.
