Mechavolt Clan
Founders: Mitri and Pelageya

The Mechavolt Clan of dragons is a Lightning-based clan, founded and led by a pair of typical Lightning engineer dragons. The founders are constantly working on new electrotech projects, and bring in all other Lightning dragons of the clan in on them. The non-Lightning dragons of the clan--of which there are surprisingly many--don't usually participate in the engineering work, although they do help sustain and defend the clan in other ways.

The Mechavolt lair once consisted of a series of caves drilled into the side of a cliff wall in the Highland Scrub sub-region of the Shifting Expanse. The Mechavolts now currently reside in similar caves drilled into the canyon wall of the Carrion Canyon. Above the caves at the very edge of the canyon sits a lightning collector spire, a homemade version of those found in the Lightning Farms sub-region. Cables trail down the side of the canyon into the caves, powering the devices the Mechavolts work on. The lair's boundaries also extend roughly a kilometer in a radius from the lightning collector centerpoint of the clan lair; this marks the area patrolled by the Mechavolt dragons.

Despite the clan's focus on Lightning engineering at the direction of the founders Mitri and Pelageya, the Mechavolt clan is very accepting of dragons from other Flights. While out exploring, the Mechavolt dragons have picked up numerous lost and orphaned hatchlings unwanted by anyone else. Despite the many difficulties in raising a menagerie of other-Flight dragons all with different personalities and needs, the Mechavolts always raise new dragons as their own. As such, even dragons from other Flights pick up a modicum of engineering expertise, though never so much as to overshadow the tendencies of their native Element.

On the other hand, because of the engineering focus and that all dragons participate at some point or another in the invention and construction of new technologies, safety goggles are considered mandatory for all adult dragons. Additional utility vests are mandatory for all those of the Lightning element. No exceptions.
