About Me
Acolight Unheimlich || She/her || 3 hours ahead of server time
Playing since May '16, I have a deep hankering for pithy and effective lore and serve as the Spooky Lore Librarian for the Light Flight Horror Hub. I chose Light Flight because I once studied anthropology, and stayed in it for the generosity of my sparkly new neighbors ... and the alluring discovery that, lore-wise, all is not sweetness and glitter in the bright realm of the Lightweaver. Fellow acolight @CalicoProfessor is my IRL wife, which accounts for any IP address weirdness you may notice. |

About the Clan
|
If a dragon of any background has a slightly obsessive fascination with some craft, or an unquenchable thirst to scavenge for old things and make them new, Clan Magpie's lair is an excellent potential home. The Charge of a Guardian dragon named Ledmon, the clan is held together by his motherly partner, Ruby, who can be a little too generous with her time and troves but goes away if you ask her to. This clan's dragons sometimes seem alarmingly immune to the dire, cheerfully bearing their little torches into dark passageways and shadowed ruins -- and preferring the destroyed, broken, salvaged, and abandoned to the pretty and perfect. The lair, which stands overlooking the eternal gloom of the Hewn City, is designed to accommodate the needs of the widely varied denizens that result from this attitude. A wild garden and a huge fishpond wrap three-quarters of the beehive-shaped mound which contains the lair. Dragons of the Fire element are employed to move hot air from a wide, cool terrace where the many Tundras dwell comfortably, funneling the warmth into a smaller quarter where dragons of the Three Jewels group bask beneath beaming skylights. Braziers placed here keep a few Coatl residents sufficiently warm. Those whose temperature needs are less specific fit themselves in where they may around caverns stocked with neatly labeled wonders. Clan Magpie dragons sometimes take single partners, but often have multiple mates. Friends in the clan sometimes spend a great deal of time matchmaking each other in hopes of getting adorable hatchlings to spoil. Thus, they may be available to breed and nest with dragons of other clans. |
Breeding Projects
Garden Moiety: Clan Magpie reminds you to eat your vegetables. Largely tomato-themed color palettes encompass a wide range of rich hues; the clan's progens and many of its earliest members remain in this group, which tends to settle close to the main entrance of the lair in order to welcome guests. |
Pond Moiety: The dragons who keep the Clan Magpie lair's large fishpond cleaned, stocked, and beautiful. They're koi-themed, with varying degrees of realism, using Paint, Piebald, and Gembond genes plus a color range in the warm, high-contrast family. |
Goat Moiety: Tundras that look like they might be descended from goats and are named as though they belong to a fifty-year-old professor with a weird sense of humor. Piebald is lovely. Neutral Tundras are the best Tundras. |
Desert Moiety: A desert-themed range focused on deliberately tacky Ancient Egpytiana. Lots of noodles. Warm colors predominate, especially those in the rose family, and preferred genes are the Butterfly secondary and Smoke tertiary. |
Three Jewels Moiety: Sparkling dragons who live in the warmest part of the lair. The unifying factor of these dragons is the Facet secondary gene, with a few Crystal primaries (and not-too-screaming contrast). Those I hatched have names drawn from my semi-obscure book fandom. |
Caerleon Moiety: Achromatic dragons of all descriptions! This small group includes both scholars and warriors of the clan. Names are chiefly drawn from Arthuriana. |

Wow, judging from your comment on the CR, the prizes all went out pretty well. The person who got the familiar didn't already have one, and I saved you some time and treasure with your prize. Pretty happy to hear that. :)
Your writing is awesome! I loved poking through your lair and reading your work :) Welcome to FR.
