Caia watched the four eggs excitedly. It was one of the largest nests she had had so far, and she was waiting impatiently for the eggs to hatch.
The first was already almost cracked entirely open, and as Caia watched, a small Mirror male crawled out.
His scales were dark gray, while his wings and underbelly were each different shades of orange. Caia gently pulled him out of the nest and set the new hatchling next to herself.
Soon, the next hatching made its way out into the world. It was a female Mirror, and had striped dark brown scales, striped dark orange wings, and a pale underbelly. Caia set her new daughter next to her new son, watching them sniff curiously at one another.
The next egg was almost hatched when Caia turned her attention to it. Finally, another small Mirror female crept out.
Caia couldn't help but think her newest daughter looked like an explosion had happened in a paint factory and the hatchling in front of her had gotten into the mess. The hatchling was coral pink and bright orange, but was also covered with yellow crackle patterns.
But then, the next hatchling emerged, and Caia realized this one was even more of a mess when it came to her colors.
The female Mirror was the largest out of her nestmates. Her body scales were pink and striped, while her wings were a peach color. Across her entire body, crackling patterns of a peach that matched her wings danced across her scales.
Still, despite the paint-covered look of her two youngest daughters, Caia gathered all of the hatchlings near and studied them to try to think of names.
The eldest one, the only male in the batch, was easy. His colors made Caia think of a flame in a sooty fireplace, so she decided to call the male Fireflicker.
Next, Caia studied the next oldest, the eldest of the three females. She eventually decided on Burnt, because the dark browns of the hatchling's scales looked burnt and scorched.
After that, Caia needed to decide on a name for the second-youngest. She stared at the young female Mirror for a while, but the only words that came into her mind were "paint factory explosion". She was pretty sure that no dragon would want to be called that, so she tried to think of another one. Finally, she decided of Scoril.
Finally, Caia picked the name for the youngest and largest of the hatchlings. She eventually decided on Morainn for her youngest daughter.
Satisfied, Caia settled down, snuggling with the four newest additions to her list of hatchlings. She would need to find a new mate soon, but for now, she was satisfied.
All four hatchlings are up for adoption!
Edit: Fireflicker has been taken!
Edit: Morainn has been taken!
Edit: Burnt has been taken!
