in my lore exalted dragons simply leave the lair/clan for whatever reason. maybe they found love and left to start a life with their new mate, maybe they leave to further their studies, maybe they actually go to serve the Arcanist, etc.

it's anything from death to servitude to exaltation, depends on the dragon

@ghostesez and @retrodetective - I like that! Like, every dragon has a different story for being exalted. It kinda makes exalting fun!

Hello,
I'm Bones!

I don't do much.
The clan holds a ceremony for the dragon about to be exalted. At the end of the ceremony, the dragon will slowly ascend into the sky (although in the cases of smaller dragons/hatchlings, they may rocket into the sky instead).
After this, the dragon meets their deity, which in my case is the Plaguebringer, before battling monsters and cool stuff like that.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
In my clan the dragons join an army, of sorts. Where they're sent off to the barracks, are trained up to level 25, and go fight other armies for territory, all in the name of the Shadowbinder/Plaguebringer :P

to being future projects! Stay tuned!
Off to the battle lines they go! My ex-professional-fighters run a training grounds as an offshoot of their hotel, and trained dragons go off to be scouts, warriors, skirmishers etc.

In my clan, exalting and death are different things.
Exalting is a deliberate, conscious decision made on the part of the dragon; there are specific rituals to be observed and the whole Clan sings the song of Exaltation with the dragon(s) who have chosen to leave. There is no blood shed; the dragon is escorted to a platform at the top of the cliff above the lair, which is essentially a teleportation system, and they are "taken by the Lightning" to be transported to the Stormcatcher and serve him however they can.
Death is, well, death, and the Song is that of Parting. The dragon's body is then dealt with in a glorious funeral pyre. Dead dragons are believed to become stars, and the Exalted dragons will join them once their work is done.

Both Exalted and dead dragons are remembered with a colourful glass lantern ball made by the glassblowers, etched with their name and strung up in the Memory Cavern so their light never goes out. The only difference is that usually dead dragons have some of their ashes incorporated into the glass.

They are being sent to be "fixed"

basically being killed or chased away so they can be reborn as pure and ready to worship savior

Wait no.

That doesn't exist.

Usually in my lore, its when somebody applies to go study/work under that deity (Meaning that they're going onto exalt row) and if they get accepted then they leave the guild to go do such. If they end up getting denied, then they'll either leave the guild to go pursue other interests (a.k.a I changed my mind and sold them instead) or just stay in the guild and go about their business as usual.
Its pretty common for craftsdragons and researchers to apply for deity work, so everyone is pretty used to applicants coming and going. Its still considered a good thing though, since it can be pretty hard at times to get accepted. Only during certain time periods will whole bunches of applicants get accepted, though otherwise maybe only 1 or 2 will get to go.
...So basically, its like applying for college or a new job somewhere else!

(Unless that dragon has lore unrelated to the guild, then they'll instead get an explanation tailored more towards their own story)
